Eh, I'm not that impressed.  I've never been a Cameron fan but I'll probably see this just to see it.

Such a gorgeous shot...

I'd choose James Cameron for a Halo movie adaptation based on that image.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

As awesome as this looks, I'm still waiting for Battle Angel

I finally saw the trailer, and I'll admit, it looks pretty damn good. Question is, does it have the characters and story to back the visuals up?

MartyS (Gromit)

Well, the more I see and read about this the more it looks like his "original" story is mostly a rip off of Alan Dean Foster's book "Midworld".

Lets see:

Planet covered by very thick rain forest.
Plants, animals, and humanoids all in a symbiotic and/or telepathic relationship.
Humans trying to exploit the planet for it's resources.
2 humans in with the natives.
Primitive natives, animals, and plants fight back against the humans.

Only major differences are the humans got lost and were not using high tech avatars to mix with the natives, and instead of big military it was a big corporation trying to get it's hands on the planet before others.

Looks like Cameron recycled the marines from Aliens for this.

Should be nice eye candy at the least.

Oh it'll happen. James Cameron is using the same CGI technique for Gally that he's using in Avatar. I guess Avatar is his way of tweaking the technology so he can make the effects better for Battle Angel.

And I've just watched the trailer a few minutes ago. And I'm thoroughly impressed with it. I'm am so excited about this movie.

I was thinking about Avatar today (essentially to distract myself from thinking about work) and people's "is that it?" reaction to the trailer reminds me a lot of people's reaction to Chinese Democracy. You have someone who basically has all the time and money in the world to create something and a public who seems to have a feeling of expectation as opposed to anticipation based on that.

Even with all the 3-D, Imax, 17.86 surround bells and whistles Avatar is still pictures on a screen. I think unless ushers give everyone a Videodrome-style helmet that plugs them into the world of Avatar a lot of people will be disappointed.

Meh....it looks like a Star Wars movie with Gungans as the main characters.

I've been hearing about this for a while, but I didn't really care until I saw the trailer. The SFX look superb, and the story is actually very intriguing.

Just one question: Why does Sam Worthington keep getting roles? He's completely generic and bland. Give us someone interesting, Cameron!
Dammit, Maverick! Why don't you play by the rules?!

Hey, he was good in Rogue (though Greg Mclean can make an awesome character out of anyone).

A lot of people on Ain't It Cool News are calling it "James Cameron's Thundersmurfs".

I agree.

I haven't seen that one, just Terminator and one other movie I can't remember at the moment. I was completely underwhelmed both times.
