Doctor Who?

I'm just glad G.I.Joe got beat.

I expect D9 to come out between 7th to 15th place and make between $10 and $15 million.  This is really good.  It means whatever else it has made money and the DvD sale(which I am sure will be good thanks to geeks like me)will be pure profit.  Also i intend to see it again some time in the next two weeks.  Nice to see a real Sci-Fi movie not based on a tv show or something old making money.

The enemy having new weapons has never stopped armies before.

Totally, but from what I witnessed in the movie, that  would trump the introduction of chemicals in WW1 & ballstic missiles/atomic weapons/etcetera in WW2, in my own humble opinion. We'd be so fucked w/ the Prawn's Quake-arsenal. :)

You're gonna see The Final Destination in 2 weeks, right?

Doctor Who?

Only if someone is pointing a gun at my head and even then I would have to think about it.

In theory I should like that franchise. Lots of gore, outrageously complicated death sequences, improvised weaponry... and yet, I just can't manage to work up the interest.

Opening car crash in FD2 was really cool, though.

I'm glad D9 did as well as it did over the weekend, and hopefully it'll get better. This one is getting some excellent word-of-mouth, so hopefully that will draw in the crowd that hasn't been foaming at the mouth for the past few months for it.

Doctor Who?

I wasn't in that crowd because I didn't know it was coming until 2 weeks ago.

Minnesota

Not surprised this movie is making boat loads of money, Got lots of hype, and Peter Jackson's name was heavily marketed. The movie was great, I enjoyed the Halo aspects of the second half, and the Reno 911 comedy elements held together the first half. Very enjoyable movie. District 10 (assuming they make it) is gonna be a pretty big hit.

Also, cant wait for Final Destination 4!

Doctor Who?

I don't know I think this movie works better as a stand alone.  Unless they have an idea that is just as good I say leave it alone.  No need to run it into the ground.  At any rate I can't wait to see what Blomkamp does next.

It's already made $37 million and besides being 1st place this week, is already in the IMDB top 100: http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/08/16/boxoffice.ew/index.html

Saw it last night and loved it, btw. Nice to have serious sci-fi again.

Doctor Who?

Well yeah I know that is was makes me so happy.  I just assumed that it would get crushed by G.I.Joe,Transformers 2,G-Force,and Harry Potter.

Russell

I thought it was good. Maybe a tad too serious for my tastes.

Doctor Who?

I thought it had a nice balance between downbeat and fun.  I loved seeing things like an alien saying "Fuck you" and Chris MacGyvering a bomb.

Good man.

I like how the independent sci-fi pictures this year are far and away the better choices in every conceivable way (at least until Avatar comes out, and that's got some mighty big shoes to fill).
