I love that Baldwin didn't even come there for that movie....heard about it for the first time from someone in line minutes or seconds before the interview....

And we don't even know for certain that he went in to see the film after that, do we?

It's a rule of living in New York that if you see a line, get on it.

The theory being that New Yorkers won't line up for anything unless it's good. So whatever is at the end of that line has to be something good.

Wasn't there a Simpson's joke like that, where it turned out to be the line for the complaint department?

So all you have to do to promote something in NYC is hire about 5 to 8 people to stand in a line and you'll draw customers....no matter what it is?

Wouldn't put it past Wiseau to do something like that.

This should be submitted to the "How Do I Support My iRiff?" thread.   :D

I agree with this, with one caveat: check to see who is standing in said line. If they look like tourists (which are very easy to spot in NYC), head the other way.

Doctor Who?

Pak-Man

My pitch for a sequel:

Lisa WASN'T lying about the baby to make things more interesting. She has the baby, and now it's 20 years in the future, and the kid grew up to look exactly-- EXACTLY like his dad. So Jon Jr. gets trapped in a love triangle that's almost exactly like the first, but now it's in Tommy's version of the future. After every scene, and in the middle of some others, they will cut to a panning shot of the space needle.

I wouldn't put it past Wiseau.

Sequel to "The Room" confirmed for Spring 2010 release.

So is this going to be like Hobgoblins 2 where a hack filmaker who couldn't make the original good, now deliberately tries to make a comedy? I can't imagine what Wiseau thinks a comedy is like if he thought the original was a drama.

Hey, he already knows how to provide his own laugh track.

Tyrant

My idea for the sequel:

Jimmy, Johnny's identical twin brother, comes to town for his brother's funeral where he finally gets a chance to meet the beautiful Lisa. Lisa and Mark have, had some point, made up and are planning on getting married "next month", but she is astoundingly beautiful in her (mended) red dress at the funeral. Lisa decides she doesn't love Mark after all and instead loves Jimmy, so she and Jimmy begin an affair behind Mark's back. Meanwhile, Denny gets himself somehow involved in a car theft ring but all that alludes to it is a guy (Chip-P) that shows up to point a gun at Denny's head, demand where his money is, and then get carted off the roof by Jimmy and Mark. Lisa and Lisa's mother yell at a sobbing Denny for five minutes. It's never mentioned again. Everyone decides to go bowling in their tuxedos.

Lisa has had to redecorate her apartment since Johnny wrecked it. The picture of the spoon has been replaced with a picture of a fork. If there's a third sequel, it will likely be a picture of a spork.

Steven mysteriously disapears and is replaced with 'Pete', who's just like Steven, only he's Pete now.

Lisa's friend, Michelle, gets diagnosed with brain cancer. But everything will be okay.

Also, Lisa's mom still has breast cancer, but everything will still be okay.

And here we see the downside of watching bad films....you just encourage these people.
