Kind of amazed there's no topic on this already. I think it'll be a sleeper hit, but it looks absolutely fantastic.

The guy who was going to direct the Halo movie, Neil Blomkamp directs this scifi flick (seemingly based on his short flick, Alive in Joburg).

Comes out August 14th.

Trailer for sure piqued my interest.

Yeah and another great thing is that it's rated R for "bloody violence and pervasive language." It's SO refreshing to have another serious sci-fi flick again. (I still haven't seen Moon but have heard it's great.)

Junkyard

If there's theater within 30 miles showing it, they got my 7 dollars.

I know. I'm there opening night.

"Pervasive language"?

"Uh oh...one character just convinced another to do something!  Better give this is an 'R"!"

It does look cool.  The TV ads are making it look like Pleasantville or Alien Nation, though.  Or, worse....Starship Troopers.

I'll wait for a review...but actively looking for reviews.

Pervasive, not persuasive :P  (If you meant that, then kudos on your pun.)

I'm not sure I follow you on the TV ads making it look like ... Pleasantville? How do you make that connection?

Pervasive language?    So the characters keep saying the same thing, over and over again?

If we're talking about the same ads. These feature a 1950's-style 50's family talking about how keeping the aliens seperate is keeping people safe and secure.

Just the stock clean-cut family reminded me of the family in Pleasantville.

Well except that that's not what pervasive means... "having power to spread throughout".

It looks okay.  Bit Michael Bay-ish though...

Why, because it has robots in it? (It doesn't.) It's the opposite of Bay, IMO. Bay likes loud, fast, brainless drivel with large, swooping camera moves. This movie takes a cinema verite approach and appears to have a really good message buried underneath decent production design.

My sincere hope is that it's the anti-Michael Bay T'Formers - how awesome would that be, this guy's first feature film ends up being better than most other sf movies to have come out in recent memory? Anyways I have high hopes for it so I might be a little biased :)
