MST3K Fan Since Childhood

[Tezzle]

Hey there, the name's Tezzle. (the name & my avatar come from one of my web comics. I use Tezzle's likeness for everything. My real name's Mike)

I gotta tell ya, as a kid there was nothing better than waking up Saturday morning, turning on SciFi and catching Mystery Science Theater 3000. That was of course when Mike took over hosting. Finding VHS tapes of the show for sale, I then discovered Joel before him, and Dr. Forrester & Frank in place of Pearl & the gang. Overall I preferred the old cast (Sorry, Mike. You're still awesome). I still have my old copies of Pod People and Cave Dwellers. I also recently acquired "Manos: The Hands of Fate" on DVD. As far as I've seen, that's their best work. It's just...so awful. Me & my friends watched it one year for my birthday. I'm fairly certain a couple of us were very literally on the floor at some point. To this day I still go up to my friend Dylan & say "Is it love, or just rough sex with Michael Douglas?"

I haven't heard many Rifftrax, sadly, but what I did hear filled me with joy I haven't felt since...well, since Manos. Luckily, my family recently got a Netflix subscription, which is perfect for these, and I'm really the only one who uses it, so once I get...you know, a job, I'll definitely work on fitting these into my budget...Yes, I will make a budget for myself & my most likely non-impressive income since it'll be my first job. I like organization, even if the organization process itself wastes tons of time. I don't try to make sense, I just try to not make sense the most efficient way possible.

I tried reviewing movies on YouTube, but it just took up a lot of my time. But me and a couple of internet friends are taking my old review show's name, and use it for our own riffing project. It'll be called "Blow Up Your Video" (I'm a big AC/DC fan). Hopefully it works out. For our first riff, we've chosen a classic that amazingly the MST3K gang never got a hold of. "The Gian Claw."

I started watching when I was 18. My then owner/boyfriend and I were in the library, and we found a ton of MST3K VHS there. He basically commanded me to sit and watch them with him, and it was pretty interesting; I was trapped watching a great show where some hilarious guys were trapped forced to watch bad movies. Irony was pretty overwhelming. Afterward I of course ordered MST3K movies from every library in America, and when I had finally seen them all, I was devastated.

But RiffTrax was like, my dream come true. Yay.

It's cool that you're getting inspired to go to do your own riffing. I don't get too much time to work on my own film review site, reelwitch.com, so I stick mostly to indie horror film projects and promotion for film festivals of the same ilk.

And; Manos was good, but personally, it has nothing on This Island Earth, hehe. ("Give Uncle Scrotor a hug!")
