Decepticons forever!

« on: June 28, 2009, 09:10:53 AM »

This is my first time hosting one of these so I'll try and do my best....

This time around we are looking for Animated characters.

Rules are the same as always. Send your list to me in a PM. List your picks from #1 -25. (#1 gets 25 points, 2 = 24. 3=23, etc). I'll give this one till Sat July 11th... 11:59pm Central time.

You may be wondering what counts and what doesn't. Well:
- Movie characters like Roger Rabbit? Yup he is fine.
-CGI? Things like Wall-E, Dug, Beast Wars characters, etc count. A CGIed-Shwarzenegger onto a T800 in Terminator Salvation. No. Nor would Bay's Transformers since they represent real living objects.
- How far back? You can go back to that silent era cartoon with the dinosaur if you want.
- If a character occurs in many series (Optimus Prime, Batman, etc) Please specify which version: ex Optimus Prime (Generation 1)  or Batman (Batman:The Animated series). That way B:TAS Batman doesn't get mixed in with Superfriends Batman.
- Claymation is animation so it falls in the Ok catagory.
- Anime is fine.
- I think I'm going to not include Machinima like Red Vs. Blue or Parody stuff like YuGiOh Abridged. The latter especially is just using old footage and redubbing it for comedy. I love it, but not going to include it. Flash toons like Homestar runner are fine though.
- Adult Swim Parodies - Yup stuff like Sealab and birdman are fine..
- comic stip/print only do not count.
- Duos: They count as one if they are normally thought of as together all the time. Hank and Dean Venture, Beanie and Cecil, Tom & Jerry, etc. Batman and Robin no because Batman is often seen with out  Robin.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

EDIT: On Duos or teams. The rule of thumb I use is how often are they apart from each other or are their names in the title. Wile E Coyote appeared in Bugs Bunny cartoons so he is not paired with roadrunner by default. The Warner Brothers (and warner sister) are a trio, so they count as one unit. Rocky and Bullwinkle are in the title, so they are a pair. Shaggy and Scooby are a pair since they always are together in every story, but Fred, Velma and Daphnie are separated. Batman is often solo so he is not paired with Robin. Hank and Dean are twins so they are paired. As would the two henchmen.

EDIT: I've moved the deadline up to Saturday the 11th. This gives you a little over a week left.

EDIT: On the subject of CGIed characters. If it is a humanoid like Gollum or Watto from Star Wars it doesn't count. They are meant to represent livin g creatures. Same with a Michael Bay Transformer. Now if it is an anthropomorphic animal like the Geico Gecko, that is fine I guess I could allow it. But CGIed aliens and creatures are not.

Quick question: Does the character need to originate in animation? What about, for example, Mr. T from the shitty 80s cartoon?

Sent. And I had to change my number one, because the more I thought about it, the more I realized my current number truly is the best.

I put my question in the wrong place, but my question is are you counting everything? movies, tv, internet, direct-to-video, cartoons in commercials, etc?

Quick question again: do comic characters count? Either from a comic book or straight from a newspaper comic strip?

Yep I have no difficulty coming up with a list. Actually I'll think about whether to do a third iteration including the claymation and stop motion characters I was thinking of. Smiley

Did you need any examples of any of the characters?

Now, would duos count as one person? Like, say, Batman & Robin, or WALLACE and GROMITT?  Wink

Yeah I included at least one duo since they don't have meaning without each other. I did have two other characters separately because I find the other half of each of those duos annoying and the characters have an existence outside of the duo (the two halves of duo A both have cartoons without the other and in duo B the character I don't like is just the antagonist for the character I do like, and they have appearances elsewhere).
