I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to be rude, but I really don't see what was so uncalled for about the joke.

JoCo's site is linked to in the first post of the thread. At the top corner of his site is a bunch of links under a heading labeled "New? Start here." Those links contain all the info you need to know about him.

Again, I'm really not trying to be mean here; I just think it's not unreasonable for some of the people here to expect you to be able to carry out the research yourself, and I don't see why you didn't expect snide ridicule (which I'm sure is intended to be good-natured, whether it comes off as such or not) on a forum ENTIRELY DEDICATED to snide ridicule.

Anyway. I apologize if anything in this post has offended you in any way.

Edward J Grug III

This is going to be my last post on the matter, because this is Jonathan, Paul and Storm's thread, but doggans said better than I did what I was trying say.

I wasn't trying to cause offense, and, in fact feel what I said was perfectly reasonable.

like I said before, I'm aware i can look things up, however I asked the question to engage others in conversation. You know it's like saying "isn't the weather nice today?" or "how was your day" yes there are simple answers to both of those but the fundamental reason they are asked is to create a conversation. Snarky replies don't help generate conversation.

So, you weren't apologizing then? Ah well.

Well, all I can say about this is...

It's hard to overstate my satisfaction!

He wasn't apologizing for his joke, but he WAS apologizing for how it made you feel, as he said in his post.

Tripe

They're kind of connected but, like I said, ah well, lesson learnt, don't try to start a conversation about a topic since people don't like to engage in those. :-\

I really liked:

Nice work!

That's pretty much how I felt about the clip.  Except:

Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

The sample actually seemed pretty funny! :D

This may have restored my faith in the choices of special guest riffers :o

It felt like that was probably most of the running gag, if not I agree it would most likely become tiresome.

For those of you who don't know about Paul and Storm, I hear their work on Bob and Tom all the time and they are REALLY funny.  Their "Better Version of you" song is hilarious!

So anyway I GOT TO HAVE THIS.  All three dudes are very funny.
"Did she just say Chipping?"

I like Paul and Storm. Formerly singers of the Enormous Penis Song

The thread started with links.

What could we tell you that you couldn't take away from those pages?

What about this:

He's a singer/songwriter. His songs are usually pretty funny and also tend to be about nerdy topics. He also wrote the end credit song for Portal, which is where I first heard about him.

wasn't covered on Jonathan's site? Only where Erik first heard of him, did that inform your decision?

I'm inclined to agree with Master J. Grug III here. I don't really think asking who the heck these guys are is a conversation topic when Wikipedia is a click away. Saying something more along the lines of, "I've never heard of these guys until now, any suggestions on what songs of theirs I should listen to?", or "What do you all think of JoCo/Paul and Storm? Are they funny?"-- that would actually generate conversation. Well, would generate conversation that didn't quickly devolve into an argument about whether people need to learn how to look things up or not. And if generating conversation was really your intent, wouldn't it help if you're at least a little informed first so you can join in?

I am thrilled that JoCo and Paul and Storm are doing this riff together. I was really sad that I missed their concert when they came through Madison and I had an exam at the exact same time. I've been a fan of DaVinci's Notebook since college, and I've enjoyed their Paul and Storm stuff a great deal. I actually re-discovered them in that incarnation through the Rifftrax Blog, and was introduced to Jonathan Coulton at the same time. Hooray for the Internet!

ManUnderMask

Not sure if this was pointed out yet, but during the PotC rifftrax, Mike makes a Paul and Storm reference (scene where the Interceptor is in the storm, happens after getting the crew from Tartuga. MIKE: I see the storm, but where's Paul?).
I survived the San Diego Comic Con 2010 Hall H stabbing.
