This is my favorite Paul and Storm moment.  They did this song for the Homestar Runner guys:

http://www.homestarrunner.com/sneakvideo.html

That was them?  They're Davinci's Notebook?

I......... know a lively fellow
Who is really quite unique
He's strong and small and yellow
With a rodent-like physique
He never plays the cello
And he never deigns to speak
He is the Strong Bad's liberetto
But they just call him The Sneak..

They were 2 of the four members.  I asked them about it and they said that even though it was credited as Da Vinci's Notebook that it was really the first ever Paul and Storm song.

The product page says the release is May 27th, but at the beginning of this thread it says the 26th. So which one is it?

Plus, everyone is a dick on the internet. Seriously, look it up.

No they're not; despite differing political and religious opinions, most of the people here on this forum aren't dicks at all and, as I pointed out before, somebody did answer my question:

He's a singer/songwriter. His songs are usually pretty funny and also tend to be about nerdy topics. He also wrote the end credit song for Portal, which is where I first heard about him.

Without being a dick, so thumbs up to Erik there. :)

I don't know, maybe you have to be there or something  :-\

And that red headed girl was in Buffy and some commercial for washing machines I think, wasn't aware she was that big a celeb, she was in the Dr Horrible thing as well right? She is pretty (but then I like red hair)

See it's not that I'm completely oblivious to these things, just mostly.* :)

* Interesting story, I had a friend who used to get me back stage to meet various musicians and the like but stopped doing that because I was never terribly impressed by meeting them (I agreed to go backstage to hang out with the friend and he seemed to like meeting them). I wasn't unpleasant or anything, I just didn't act all starstruck (once I met, er, he's the son of Cher and Greg Alman, Elijah something, anyway he shakes my hand and says "Hi, I'm Elijah" to which I replied "Hello, I'm Nick" apparently this wasn't the normal response or something) I just don't impress all that easily. Oh and yes there were people of higher caliber than Son of Cher but he's the one that sticks in the memory anecdote wise.

He wrote that Rock Band song?! funny. Anyway, look forward to this.

It seems to have been fixed for me now, but it did say 27 at one point, and before that it was 21 (which may have prompted the confusion over at Satellite News)

Just finished reading the Jonathan Coulton New York Times article. Great read.

"Yes, waiter....saucer of Milk, table of four, to the RiffTrax Forum.."

I'll admit that i haven't even heard of any of these guys before.  I did hear Colton song from Portal, but i never put a name to the voice, and i have no clue who the other guys are.  Though i will say that i had never heard of Janet & Cole before the Dirty Dancing Rifftrax, but i was surprised at how funny they were, and the same goes for Matt Elliott.  Yes, its a gamble getting a track from someone you've never heard before, but shit....its only three bucks.

It seems to me that a lot of people here get a bit defensive when someone voices a bit if displeasure when guest riffers of unknown stature get announced.  Though i think its sometimes a bit involuntary, simply because they don't want an announcement thread that starts:  "I don;t know these guys, I'd prefer MKB instead."  Then slowly see it devolve into: " FUCK YOU!...THEY ROCK , AND YOUR MAMA SMELLS LIKE APPLES!!"  While this hasn't happened in quite a while, go take a look at the thread where they announced Richard Kryanka(?) for Troll 2.   So petulant they had to lock the thread.  And when James Lileks was announced for the Spiderman3 Riff, it almost veered close to that territory.

While i'm not saying that anyone's opinion is more valid than the rest, it would benefit everyone if people just relaxed a bit.  Either get it or don't, or wait until the track is released, and then base your decision on what others have to say about it.

Oh, and maybe Conner needs a Sarcasm Tag.....maybe.....

It's worth bearing in mind though that I was not voicing displeasure, indeed I actually said the same thing you just did, I merely asked who the people were.

The only person who has voiced displeasure with the riff is Im. Which, like you said, is entirely his prerogative to do so.

But even if they're not terribly funny in their other work (and really I just haven't found any of the links very funny at all) doesn't mean they can't make a funny riff in the same why that not knowing who the person is doesn't mean their riff won't be funny.

Pretty sure people didn't know who this bloke and those robot puppets were at some point and yet they managed to be funny.

Jeezus, all I said was you can look up these internet celebrities on the internet.

Yes and as Torgos showed, you could have just as easily answered the question.

Pretty simple really. :)

The thread started with links.

What could we tell you that you couldn't take away from those pages?

What about this:

wasn't covered on Jonathan's site? Only where Erik first heard of him, did that inform your decision?

I think you are really blowing this way out of proportion.

I just want to stress that when I hit reply last night I didn't even look at who I was replying to, this wasn't the personal attack you seem to think it was. It could have been my favourite person on the board, or it could have been bratpop.

I apologize if I caused any offense or hurt feelings, I don't know where I got the idea that "one liners" were acceptable on the Rifftrax forum.

Actually I'm not, after Erik replied I was ready to let it go, but people wanted to continue and so it did.

No, I don't think it was personal, I think the response was uncalled for regardless of who you were replying to, but it wasn't just you you were merely the first to reply in that manner.

All I saw there were a bunch of tedious blog entries, and like I said before, I'm aware I can look things up, however I asked the question to engage others in conversation. You know it's like saying "isn't the weather nice today?" or "how was your day" yes there are simple answers to both of those but the fundamental reason they are asked is to create a conversation. Snarky replies don't help generate conversation.

Fair enough.  :)
