Yeah it's full of in-jokes from the game, which is what really makes it funny. Besides having a really catchy tune :)

It's also longer than the game.

No yours was just the links, it's the "duh look it up" type posts that are annoying. Nothing kills conversation like monosyllabic or snotty answers*. :(

It's like asking somebody, "so what was the film like?" and getting the response "go see it and you'll see" or "why don't you look up the plot" well yes but you know I'm not incapable of doing that, the reason I ask is because it offers people who like the thing being asked about the opportunity to voice an opinion or pass along information in their own words.

By Joe.. You're being Snide a bit there, ol Chap! :P

Are we talking Snidely Whiplash levels of snide?
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

God forbid he should express a dissenting opinion.

As we all know, dissenting opinions are always treated with malice and condescension around these parts.

The funny thing is, he didn't even dissent.  He merely hinted at the potential for future dissension.

They pretty much are. There's some kind of zeitgeist that says that "X" is okay, and any variation on that, but "Y" will get you vilified en masse.

Believe me, I know from personal experience here just how true that is.

This is a recent article about both acts:

Paul & Storm were SO good, they could be on late night TV IMMEDIATELY!  It was very east coast college, but that's what rules on Conan O'Brien.

As for Coulton...  He's a superstar to these people.  They knew every lyric.  He didn't speak down to them, it was like a talent show in a garage, we were all in it together.

If you don't think you can build a career online, you're reading the wrong press.  That's exactly what Jonathan Coulton has done.  He's turned the business upside down.  He's releasing more music, not less!  He's revealing all of his warts, not holding back.  He's not sucking someone's dick to get on the radio, he's already where the action is, ONLINE!

But in fact the original responses weren't even to that, they were to a simple question about who somebody was, asked  with the intent of allowing people to talk about why they like them.

I don't know, it's quite disheartening, it really is. :(

Me, I'm just shocked that there's anybody left on the internet who still hasn't heard of JoCo or Paul and Storm (or at least da Vinci's Notebook). :P

Here's a quick introduction to their talents (note: some lyrics not quite SFW):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuZAxZTyONg - "A Better Version Of You" by P&S, featuring audience interaction.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip96uU3EUoo - P&S show their gift for mimicry/parody

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fcc1w0wueQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln3M-JQv8OM - P&S' "Rejected Commercial Jingles" series, featuring riffing with the audience

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zyFVyKb_VY - "The Captain's Wife's Lament", which is pretty much ALL riffing with the audience

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scv3iCjz98k - JoCo, P&S, and a geek celebrity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAyqlX9toWk - JoCo and ANOTHER geek celebrity

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKkezJVJSGM - JoCo riffs on flickr photostreams. With geek celebrities in the audience.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uFbjIh833s - JoCo and P&S, just riffing.

Well, you asked a question that was not to really be answered by opinion, but by facts as to who they are and what they have done and what not. And you asked it on the internet. If you asked someone in real life who they were, they would tell you, because it would be a little ridiculous to be told "go look it up, I don't want to continue this conversation further if you don't know what I'm talking about".  But when you ask a question like that on the internet, it would have been just as easy to look it up.
Plus, everyone is a dick on the internet. Seriously, look it up.

And now, to add something useful that I haven't seen mentioned already: Back when MKB were in the Masters Of Song Fu contest, both Jonathan Coulton and Paul & Storm were also part of it as the "professionals" (I forget what the official name was for it). Coulton actually won it last year, I believe.

Essentially, they are rather big names in "nerd-comedy" similar to the guys here at RiffTrax.

This is my favorite Paul and Storm moment.  They did this song for the Homestar Runner guys:

Well you'd be amazed who else I've no idea about then.

Case in point.

You know I'm on the web a lot but mostly it's reading books at Gutenberg and reading the news and things like that, plus posting here.Oh and I recently started using Facebook but outside of that.
