The Greatest Movie Ever: Nominations

[THE QUEEN!!!]

I am not trying to sound impressive or anything like that but Citizen Kane really is my favorite movie.

I watch it about once ever two weeks and every time I find something new to love about it.

Charles Foster Kane is the only character I have ever seen on film that is complex enough that he feels like a completely real person.

I'm with you. Every time I watch it I find something new --and I've seen it a million times. I can't get over the fantastic writing and cinematography. Who cares if they think we're "trying to sound impressive"-- it's a great movie.

I couldn't come up with an order for these...

The Wizard of Oz
Casablanca
Citizen Kane
The Muppet Movie
To Kill a Mockingbird
Russian Ark
The Wages of Fear
The Shawshank Redemption
The Great Escape
2001 A Space Odyssey

I know you're all looking at that and thinking, "The Muppet Movie?"  But really, it is the best road trip movie ever made.  Watch it again if you don't believe me.

[THE QUEEN!!!]

Fantastic list! Love THE MUPPET MOVIE! But I must say my fav of theirs is Muppet Caper--all those great British actors and the running gag about fozzie and kermit being twins, and the Esther Williams parody.

Caper is great, and the whole complicated Esther Williams thing is an amazing bit of puppetry and cinematography (and it's funny).

Really, I like all the movies from when Jim Henson was alive and in charge, no question.  The more recent ones...not so much.

But if I had to choose between Movie or Caper, I'd take Movie.  Every song in Movie is a classic, the never-ending cameos are great, and the whole thing just has this really creative energy to it that I think stems from the fact that it was their first time doing a feature film.

To this day, I still have little to no idea what most of the words are in Can You Picture That, but I still get all grooooovy every time I hear it.

It is a tough call. And yes I love every movie Jim Henson did. And, as for the songs, I love ALL the songs in Muppet Movie. Paul Williams is great. I think my favorite is still "Moving Right ALong."
