422 - The Day the Earth Froze.

Fun movie. It was about 10 minutes in before I realized "Hey, I think I know this story!" and went and dug out my "Enchanted World: Wizards and Witches" book.  Good stuff. :)

Also, the short was hilarious.
"Guys, too dark."

For me it was the reverse. I was browsing through Enchanted World: Wizards and Witches and went, heeey, this sounds familiar...ZOMG! 0_0 The "magic mill" IS the Sampo!

Final Justice.  I don't think the movie's that terrible really.  I loved the riff - I think season 10 might be my favourite now - and the host segments were awesome.  It's also pretty cool to see that Greydon Clarke has the perfect attitude towards MST3k - some of the jokes might hurt a little, but as long as it gets people to see his movie, he's cool with it.

Had an MST3K party at my place Saturday night for a friend's birthday.  I didn't get to actually watch much because I was busy running around cooking and making sure everyone was sufficiently fed and drinked-up, but we got in 2 new ones for me as b-day gal brought some of her new Castle Forrester fare.

First were a few of my favorite shorts - the ones included as bonus features with the Rhino Killer Shrews disk.  It actually took me a while to figure out I had new shorts (hey now!), I kinda stumbled on them about a year after I bought the set. Anyway, they are great - the 21st Century Calling one is one of my faves.

Then we ate (my Olive Garden Pasta Fagioli recipe which is usually a big hit), and we put in The Screaming Skull.  I liked it.  I liked it a lot, considering it's 90 minutes of absolutely nothing happening very slowly.  Surprisingly we didn't even shed anyone during the intermission before we followed up with Squirm.  I missed a lot of this one doing some post-food cleanup, but what I saw, I liked.

Two plus shorts ended up being enough for most everyone, so b-day gal crashed in the guest room and everyone else split, and me and a buddy fired up a couple of heavy maduro cigars (Partagas Black Gigantes) and the RIfftrax of The Matrix while we partook of spirits and light conversation.

So that was a LOT of riffing, and all of it good.

And b-day gal left her small selection of Castle Forrester's at my place, so I have anohter couple of new ones to watch later this week.

Wow, invite me to your next get together!

Watched SF International last weekend.   Man, full of "made for TV" stars.

THE QUEEN!!!

count me in, too!

Last night I watched Hobgoblins and Werewolf, I mean warwoof.
Hobgoblins cracks me up. Bad writing (nothing like a child endangerment joke), bad acting (like that overacting extra there!), bad cinematography (yes, Rick Sloane pioneered the Stand In a Straight Line in Front of a Trouble Light shot) and editing (he just knocked over his own table! he just did it again! and again!), bad costumes (it's a preying mantis in a party dress), bad monsters (worst that'll happen is one of the plastic eyes will fall out and he'll choke on it), and not even a good message (one thing I learned is that daphne was a slut and amy wasn't fun til she became a slut!). One of my favorite episodes.
Werewolf cracks me up--only my maybe 4th time seeing it and I love it more every time. The stupid surprise ending is so predictable and yet I don't know how she became a werewolf. And where the heck is she from? "I is home, Pol"

THE QUEEN!!!

It was an old commercial, if I recall correctly.

Plus, Yuri, the Russo-Mexican psychotic.

I still want to see Wurwolf uncut.

My last watched was 423 - Bride of the Monster.

Where is that "we must increase our bust" line from?

I don't know if it originated from this movie but I know for sure that it's a line used in New York's Finest (1987) when the hookers were all trying to increase their bust size doing exercises chanting "We must! We must! We must increase our bust!" I havent seen the movie in about 13 years but when ever I hear that chant thats the movie that pops in my head. it was also in Private School and I believe it was in Grease as well

Apparently, it's from this book:

Soultaker.  God, I love Bill's Crow.  Season 10 has been gold from start to finish, and the appearances of Joel and Frank were a little surreal.  It also proved to me that Mike is a better skits guy than Joel, and Frank only really works with Clayton Forrester.  The interview with Joe Estevez is kinda cute, and he seems like a nice guy.

mrbasehart

Heh.  I fully agree with Mike in that in the Sci-Fi seasons, they'd got the riffing down to a fine art.  They're easily my favourite years and though some of the skits for the time-travelling saga aren't the best, when Bobo and Brain Guy were set as the sidekicks, it got real funny, real fast.

yes it was warwulf.
I agree with the fact that the mike-kevin-bill era was the best. according to an interview the channel made them have a story arc, so that's why they have those silly time travelling skits in between. so I can't blame them for their quality--they were forced into it. but some of my favorite skits are from that era like "When Loving Lovers Love" and "Where oh Werewolf"

I watched Final Justice for the second time. They're always funnnier the 2nd time. So funny. "Go ahead on." If I hear that phrase ONE more time.......

Watched two more of the pile left over from the festivities from a couple of weekends ago, last of the "never seen 'em"s in the pile.

Experiment 0703 - Deathstalker And The Warriors From Hell:

Wow.  Somebody saw Beastmaster and thought "I need to make a movie just like that, but cheaper, and with less-attractive people."  I kept forgetting to check the interwebs, but isn't the bald bad guy wizard guy the same guy that played the hawk guy in the second season of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century?  Horrible movie, but I laughed a lot.

Experiment 0021 - The Legend Of The Dinosaurs:

I've been warned about the KTMA stuff, both by Pak & Tyrant's Quest here and by a buddy who's a higher-level MST geek than I am, so I think I started out right, seeing the final one of the season.  Other than the sets and the bots of course, it seemed very much like a Season 1 or 2 episode - lots of riffing, and lots of funny, but rather more slapping around of wet-suited Japanese gals than their normal fare.  Joel apparently even hoofs a line at one point and that cracks 'em up for a while, but I didn't notice what the actual mistake must have been.

I know I'm 20 years late but, good show, lads, good show.  Glad you'll be back for another season.

I've had trouble watching the KTMAs too.  I think I would've liked the show if it'd just been like that, but seeing how far it came after only a couple of seasons, it's tough to go back.  The only ones I really plan to watch in the near future are the movies that MST3k proper never took on.

Crow T. Robot 666

Just watched The Incredibly Strange Creatures.  Then I watched that again with the Joe Bob Briggs commentary.  Needless to say I have a smile going right now.
