A little late to this party, but here goes anyway.

Run Lola Run was pretty cool.

Das Boot is really good.

I enjoyed Almodovar's Women On the Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown.

And Roberto Benigni's Johnny Stecchino is a favorite of mine.

Downfall is great.  So is Europa Europa.

And don't get me started on Hong Kong cinema.  Fist Of Legend and Drunken Master II (the original HK versions, not the US releases) are both all sorts of awesome.

A different kind of awesome - Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky.  Spectacularly awesome!   ;D

I can't believe you just said that one. That was one wacked out movie. I need to find that one again! I doubt many people have even heard of that one.

Really? I thought Riki-Oh was kinda infamous.  I know in a poll conducted by one of our movie channels, it got second "goriest movie ever made", behind Brain Dead.

Its not like you can readily buy this one in a lot of places... most people who say they know of it ever say they watched the movie in its entirety. Most people I know have just seen short clips posted through the internet. This movie is not really a movie with mass appeal. I doubt the average joe would sit through the amount of gore it puts out. Its been so long since I've seen it I only remember select parts of the movie. Too bad we couldn't get a rifftrax of some of the stranger stuff like this.

Currently watching Tokyo Story. Damn Ozu's brand of genis, the brilliant yet incredibly slow pace, it's putting me to sleep!
Dammit, Maverick! Why don't you play by the rules?!

"Joel, what's a Harringway?"
"About a pound."

A french dark comedy that's smart without going over your head.
Here's the trailer (the audio desync drives me crazy though) :grr:

I have this movie on a horribly copied VHS tape (with the hilarious disclaimer label reading "This is a reproduction from and international source") in my cabinet at work.

Whenever we have things to wrong or upgrade projects that makes us work over night, we bring out the small TV with the built in VHS player and have this running on a continual loop.   Folks will wonder by our office pod, see the movie, and just walk on by.    The color is off and sound track makes a bizare warbling noise, but we love it.

Whenever someone complains about a policy or task they do not like, some of us always respond with "you are kind, but you do not know the rules".

Taegukgi hwinalrimyeo. Not sure why. I just really liked it.

THE QUEEN!!!

Favorite foreign language films? Hmmm

Il Postino
Seven Samurai
Les Demioselles de Rochefort (the young girls of rochefort)
It's half in English, but Shadow Magic makes me happy too
Babette's Feast
"Kissing is like WiFi. Just get within the general area." ---New Moon RT

Johnny Unusual

Ooh, good call with Babette's Feast.  They made a movie that's basically just people sitting around eating and made it a complete joy to watch.  It actually makes the process of cooking and eating engaging to watch.

TheTaxidermist

Das Boot.

I love it.  I absolutely love it.

Tripe

Yeah that's a Kick ass film, and it begins and ends in one of the coolest little towns in all of France.

ebeth

I am not above projectile vomiting to get my way

Trumpysgirl

We started The Battle of Algiers in my class last week, but about halfway through the movie (around the part where the women disguise themselves as French so they can plant bombs) the DVD began to wig-out because it was scratched and we couldn't finish it. But what I have seen so far had me enthralled.

There's my tuition hard at work, my freakin' college can't even buy back-up copies for anything.
