Hm.  I think it was Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.  I remember really loving it.  I think I still do...  ;D

Back in the old days before VCRs and DVD players, theaters would rotate hit movies from times past every few weeks in my hometown (maybe in every city, but I only lived in my hometown, so....:-)). As such, I got to see Bambi on the big screen when I was a kid. It was the first time I'd ever cried during a movie. Twas also my first Disney flick.

Another movie I can remember seeing in the theatre years ago is Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.  I remember the excitement I felt seeing Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny on screen together.  That was probably one of Mel Blanc's last performances as the Looney Tunes characters, wasn't it?

He pulled off Bugs in a couple TV specials after that. A quick glance at the IMDB tells me his last performance as Bugs was probably in "Bugs Bunny's Wild World of Sports." (Since I think Fifty Years of Bugs Bunny was basically a clip show.)

First one for me was "Lady and the Tramp"  Disney used to have a theatrical re-release schedule that matched up to what they do with videos now.  Most of the major animated features would go back to the theaters every seven years or so and then go back into the vault.   MGM would do the same thing with their "epics"  like Gone With the Wind, Ten Commandments, even 2001: A Space Odyssey.

As for what Disney is doing now... they're milking the hell out of "High School Musical".  I pity you guys with pre-teen daughters, since you must have had to put up with that or the Cheetah Girls.  I've never seen them but I picture them as having thick layers of yellow cheese powder from Cheetos covering their lower faces and hands.

My first was Peter Pan. Loved every minute of it. :^)

Phantom of Krankor

My first was Beauty and the Beast. Its kinda neat because the first movie I ever saw ended up getting nominated for best picture. I wonder if its symbolism. ;D
I am Ambassador Phantom, from the planet Krankor! I am rapidly approaching your planet... in the warship, which you have just seen. I will arrive tomorrow night at precisely eight o'clock. At that time I shall make my wishes known to you. You will obey them... or die! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! HA!

Beauty and the Beast for me too

If i look back i think it was that Michael Jackson special at disneyland (i went there when i was 4) or probably Lady and the Tramp, I remember that one the most as a kid along with Peter Pan.

Ah, yes, for some reason Michael Jackson really appeals to 4 year olds.

They usually say, "No," though.

As for my first Disney movie, I suspect it was The Rescuers during its initial run in 1977.  It's possible that I saw Bambi prior to that, but I've blocked it out of my mind.  They really should have titled that movie Baby's First Childhood Trauma just to give parents fair warning.
