"you and Noel is in it for fame and fortune? But over my dead body!"

Doctor Who?

I think the last time I watched the Oscers was when The Return of the King won and that was only because I wanted to see if it would win anything.

This is a GREAT article about the recent Oscar nominations.  A lot of great points are brought up here (the ones not covered in a lot of the media's "Oh noes!  No Batmans!?"):

That picture sums up why I think most people couldn't care less about the Oscers.

Take this Wall E is one of the best film to come around in a while and yet it can't get a best picture nod because it's animated and acording to the people who run the oscers animated movies can't be good.

I think they're overrating Wall-E. Granted, a lot of people like it...but it's still a Disney movie. It's ridiculous to predict that "50 years from now people will still love WALL•E". You would only rate a Disney production that highly if you know nothing about animation. There were far better examples of the Academy disrespecting animation. Disney is not the only studio out there.

Doctor Who?

It's a Pixar movie,disney only distributes it.

Also how does being made by disney make it bad.

I know quiet a bit about animation and I have to tell you Disney has always done pretty good if not ground breaking work.

Even their shorts from the 30s and 40s still look good today.

Also Pixar's work doesn't solely depend on how it looks,Toy Story looks pretty dated now adays and yet It is still gripping.

I have no trouble believe that people will still be watching Pixar's stuff in 50 years.

After all there are tons of animated thing that are still populare that come from the 30s and 40s and some of that stuff is almost 80 years old.

The story is good and entertaining there is no time limit to how long something will remain populare.

Heck I still read Sherlock Holmes and those were written over 100 years ago.

Disney makes the same stories over and over again. They haven't made any groundbreaking advancements in animation/animated storytelling in years. In terms of getting from point A to point B to point C, they're still making the same movies. The few traditionally-animated films they make don't add anything new to the form, either. Walt died before he could expand into different ideas, so his studio never advanced. There has been some amazing, different, original, inventive films made outside the Disney corporation, while the suits continue to make the same movies.

Disney is very highly involved in Pixar's films. I think that Brad Bird's films are the only ones to truly deviate from the form in terms of originality and creativity.

Popularity does not always equal longevity.

Doctor Who?

They are talking about which film will still be watched in 50 years time most of Disney's movies that are that age or old are still watched and loved.

Animaton is more then what Ralph Bashki did wich was just do a lot drugs and draw.

Hating something just because it's populare doesn't make you an expert in the field.

Unpopularity doesn't =good.

Also are you trying to me Wall E is the same as The Lion King?

Also I have never heard anything from Pixar that would indicated that Disney dictates story to them and now they OWN Disney's animation division so Disney doesn't have the power to tell them what to do.

I don't think you have ever seen a Disney movie any way.

Is there supposed to be an argument in here?

Your debate skills are incredibly poor.

"I know you are but what am I" does not equal a valid argument. I never implied that unpopularity equaled quality. You did, however, imply that popularity automatically equals quality, which it does not. Just compare the Billboard rankings of the Jonas Brothers to that of Frank Zappa.

And the drug comment just makes you look even sadder than you already are.

Shoo. This is not a playground.

Isaac stay out of any threads I start and you will not hear from me again.

No, I didn't. And referring to another as a "troll" sounds like a pick-up line coming from you.

Well... now that that's over.  Let me share with you this interesting tidbit of how the academy is a tight-knit bunch.  Check this comment out:

"Heath Ledger was in Brokeback Mountain with Anee Hathaway. Anne Hathaway was in The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep. Meryl Streep is in Doubt with Viola Davis, Amy Adams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was in Before the Devil Knows Your Dead with Marissa Tomei and Michael Shannon. Marissa Tomei is in The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke. She was also in Chaplin with Robert Downey, Jr. Robert Downey, Jr was in Gothika with Penelope Cruz. Downey, Jr was also in Good Night and Gook Luck with Frank Langella. Going back to Michael Shannon who appears in revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet. Kate Winslet was in All the Kings Men with Sean Penn. Sean Penn was in 21 Grams with Melissa Leo. Penn is in Milk with Josh Brolin. Josh Brolin was in Flirting With Disaster with Richard Jenkins. Richard Jenkins was in Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt is in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Taraji P Henson. Pitt was in Mr and Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie."

The original article is a good read too.  It's Entertainment Weekly's "Random Oscar trivia!"  The above was a comment found there.  Here's the article:

Doctor Who?

Is it just me or does the acamdimy seem to be run by people who will only give out awards to people they know or to movies that are unpopulare.

If you ask me some of Pixars stuff is pretty artistic nd yet they can't even get a best picture non,I am not asking for them to win but if they could just get a nomination it would restore a lot of my faith in the acadimy.

Just because something is populare doesn't make it bad, lots of good things are poulare.

Dude! Use the 'spell check' feature! :)

BTW, "The Academy" is made up from people who've won awards or been nominated for them, so it's bound to be a little...exclusive.
