A lament to my team....

The game got me pumped up the entire week, and gave me the biggest buzzkill for the beginning of this week....

At least the problem wasn't "Marty"Ball - it was more the fault of just a few key players that sucked in the first half, and in turn, steadily ruined morale/rhythm for the second half (and the head-butting didn't help either).

As a Charger fan, I'm really sick of saying this.....But here's to next season.

I saw the game on TV, and I thought: "I wonder how many RiffTrax employee's are at this game?"
Now I know at least 1 was.

I just wanted N.E. to lose, because they don't need another shot at the Super Bowl so soon.

Woo, Patriots!

Sorry, I just have to represent my team there.  Anyway, yes, plus, as pretty much everyone has said in the media, though I think it's pretty accurate:  if you let Tom Brady hang around in a game long enough and try to figure out a way to beat you, probably 9 out of 10 times, he'll find a way.  The Pats were just incredibly lucky that their defense and special teams kept them in the game as long as they did.

Keep in mind though, our other team is the Red Sox.  We need a team like New England to balance out the crushed dreams and hopes and all that.

I was really hoping San Diego would go to the super bowl, LT deserves a shot at hoisting that trophy.  I don't think the Pats were the better team yesterday, but when you hand them the game like that, it's your own fault.

<at the begining of the year> I bet a friend a case of beer that: the colts would go to the super bowl ... he made the same bet with me, only he chose the Chargers.

The funny thing is now I think neither of us will win the bet because now Tom Brady is on a roll. I didn't know who to cheer for in yesterday's game because it was a lose-lose situation :)

I just can't believe what little field awareness players seem to have these days... Can't recall the poor San Diego defensive back's name at the moment... but... It was 4th down, you don't need to, nor should want to, intercept a ball in traffic. Knock it down!!! Hell, at least intercept it then fall on it... They don't need you to gain yards, that's why you have an offense. Should have been a turnover on downs, most likely the Chargers either ice the game outright or waste enough time to make the comeback highly unlikely.

I know I'm speaking with rose-colored glasses perched on my nose... but nowadays so many games, in all sports, seem to come down to a player or players just not being aware of the overall situation of the game. Everything is done "for the moment".

The Chargers didn't play poorly as a team I think. They had one or two key players that just didn't perform... there's no excuse for those dropped interceptions, incompleted passes that were literally perfect..... Parker needs tape wrapepd around his hands before each game, and Jackson needs to start wearing size 12 shoes, instead of size 14s =P

I didn't get to watch the game very closely, but it didn't look like Brady worked out a way to win so much as the Chargers just gave the game away with stupid mistakes and rookie-caliber play.  Marty didn't hurt the team this time, but he didn't help much either -- seeing as he doesn't call the plays anymore, I'm not sure exactly what he does besides pace the sidelines and wait for inevitable doom to come crashing down.

This is why I don't really follow football.  I can only take the crushing disappointment of one local team's inept handling of the playoffs each year.

Marty is like the president of a company with other Vice Presidents running around as well. He "coaches" the team: which, if you remember High School football, involves a lot more than just calling plays. This, I understand, has caused a lot of friction tho between him and the play-caller. Marty does a lot, and his mere presence/care for the team does a lot for their morale I'm sure. While someone else calls the plays, he still has a say, and instructs on skill/technique also.

What really lost it for the Chargers were those one or two guys tho. Look at Parker....what the hell, Parker??? It's in your hands, then right out of em again??? If I were to blame the game on one person, it would be Eric flippin' Parker. If he had actually followed through with what they needed him to do, the entire pace of the game starting at the beginning of the first half would have been waaaay different....

Yeah...I wanted Chargers to win too. Even though my Colts wouldn't have home advatage, I just hate NE really lol. Chargers are defenitly a team to be respected though! Good luck next year. Now I am hoping for a Colt's Bear's Super Bowl. If New Orleans makes it though, then I will want them to win....even if Colts go.

My condolences go out to you Chargers fans. I caught a bunch of the game while we were out to eat, and the Pats really didn't deserve to win the way they played. Hell of a season though.

I could usually give a crap who makes it to the Super Bowl, but I think most of the country would like to see New Orleans win it all after what that city's been through. Somebody just needs to kidnap Tom Brady/Peyton Manning when the time comes...

Drew is a very good QB - and he served SD well for many a season. I would definitely like to see the Saints go marchin' in this year. Are they AFC or NFC? They're NFC....yeah - Would have been neat if Drew went up against his alma mater at the bowl (but sadly, it won't happen this year)

Well, you can always take comfort in the fact that you're not a Vikings fan.
