QuoteConstruction accident northwest of Lincoln kills man

Tuesday, Dec 09, 2008 - 08:19:20 pm CST
A 46-year-old Iowa man died following a construction accident Tuesday, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.

Timothy Comly of Hornick, Iowa, was working with a construction crew in the area of Alvo Road and North 27th Street on Tuesday afternoon. At about 1:18 p.m., deputies were called to the area on a report that a man, Comly, was trapped inside the dumping mechanism of a semitrailer dirt hauler.

Comly had stopped to clean out the bed of the dirt hauler after moving a load of dirt to a development in the area. He opened the hydraulic, clamshell-style doors  to allow him access to clean out the truck's bed. As he was doing so, according to the sheriff's report, the doors closed on him after an apparent drop in hydraulic pressure.

From the short, I learned that if I do stupid things, bad things happen.  It changed my life!

From the DVD...  I learned how to do the Ballpoint Pen!  Do the Ballpoint!  Seriously, I think those songs are my favorite parts of the disc.

I learned that Rifftrax wants me to pay 15 dollars for one short (since I already own the rest). I am also learning the limits of my addiction, as I will probably get the disk eventually.

I learned that if you use a sledgehammer to hit the "mushroom head" of a railroad spike against a piece of construction equipment for no reason, your heart will explode instantly.

It was a magic mushroom, rebuilding itself after the strike...

If you're trying to show that the tool could break during a hit and pieces fly out, at least they could have broke off a section of the "mushroom" after the hit, you could see it was still intact afterwards when they showed a closeup of the guy holding it...

I learned that a body that falls in a rockfield, stays in that same rockfield forever...

Nice to see this one released VOD -- it reminds me a lot of the "shock the crap out of the kids" type safety videos from elementary school.

I learned:

- The 70s had better country music, although it reminds me a little of the Mitchell theme. We need more twin-leads in music today.
- 3-Fingered Joe plays a mean guitar for playing without an index finger. Phil Keaggy and him should get together and jam.
- Watching a guy fall to his death is a great moment for a instrumental jam and then taking a verse.
- I expected to see a rotund man running in fast motion yelling "Woo woo woo woo woo woo!" He'd be one of the more competent people there.
- It takes great restraint not to yell out "Oh Elizabeth, I'm coming!" in the midst of a man clenching his chest, even if there's blood everywhere.
- The wrench was a metaphor for danger. Or something.
I was a student at a small midwestern college....

This kind of happened to a friend of mine.    He was using a random piece of metal to split a salt lick (for deer hunting) with a metal hammer and a piece of the metal broke off, shot into his forearm and hit an artery and had to be rushed to the ER.    We made fun of him for months after that (we are a cruel group).    He was okay and the deers lived another week.

Oh, what did I learn?    Feathered hair and safety do not mix.

Cool, and maybe they can get the drummer from Def Leppard to jam with them.

There is an unedited version in which the words: "F@#$*& #*&^$% &##%$& #@%%@&!!!" are used over and over.
Oh bite me, it's fun!

I learned that being in a safety short is suicidal, unless you have a badge.

All the characters were replaced by rednecks living in trailers then?
