I still can't believe the poster doesn't have one of them holding a hot dog.  :)

Feel free to add one.  ;)

This movie is a 2 hour long set up for oh so many jokes if you're not already busy laughing at how bad the movie/acting is. It's still painful and the only suggested way to watch this would probably be with Rifftrax.
er.. It's only 91 minutes long..  ???

You spend half an hour staring at the blank screen once it's finished going:

Gah? Wha? Ha? Buh? etc
FINE

Sorry I was laughing over the movie for another 29 minutes when it ended.

I seem to have started a mild frenzy with my offhand Redbox comment.  Let me see if I can elucidate a couple points.

1.  The rental charge is a dollar a day, plus tax.  You keep it three days, you pay three dollars.  They have a cutoff point (21 or 28 days, I forget) at which point they stop charging and the disk is yours to keep.

2.  You don't have to reserve the movie you want online.  You can just go to the box, punch it up, and if the machine has it stocked, you can rent it right there.

3.  I believe Redbox also has a "Buy used DVD" function, where you can buy a movie for $7 plus tax.

4.  Oh, and you don't have to drop off at the same box where you picked up, if that matters.

I'm no shill for Redbox -- I use it sparingly, mostly for Rifftrax -- but for getting recent stuff at good prices, it is tough to beat.

Well, it helps to know they have it before driving to the nearest RedBox only to discover it's not there..

I have 3 locations in my area and after searching for it online, it was at only 1 location, so finding it, then reserving it online guarantees you'll be getting from that particular location :)

Sure, you can do that.  I'm just saying you don't have to.  You aren't required to reserve anything on-line.

Oh yeah, I understand..

Thanks again for letting us know about this!
I had no idea something like this even existed, and was even in my area till yesterday. :o

Definitly, a GR8 fallback option to Netflix

Looking forward to the new Rifftrax!

BTW as of two weeks ago Redbox has been getting BluRays (depending on location).

I didn't reserve The Happening on Redbox.  I just went up to the machine during lunch and rented  The Happening and Iron Man right there.
Here's the receipt I got in the mail if anyone is interested.  It appears you do get a whole day before you incur more charges.

On timeout

Just so everyone knows the "Hour of footage too intense for theaters" is the behind the scenes crap and hasn't been put back into the film.  There is only one version and it's the 91 minute one.

Ahh, thanks a lot for that.

Asbestos Bill

Just FYI, we at QuipTracksTM (*squeek* We're an official company now so I can do that!) just finished recording our own track for The Happening that we've been working on since it opened in theaters. Those of you who check the Fan Riffing boards already know this; I'm just mentioning it for those who don't.

We'll be releasing it tomorrow.

That is all. Thank you for your time. *bows out*
