Hmm. I guess I'm one of the only people not excited about this release. I personally don't like graphic horror movies and I can't imagine wanting to see this one even with Rifftrax.

Not graphic, the deaths are comical.

TRUTH.

I really don't think this movie is any more graphic than a Die Hard film. Though maybe that is because I laughed all the way through it.

Seriously though, it's not a slasher film, it's not SAW or Hostel or one of those ilk.

One of my favorite discoveries was after getting this one recorded, and checking out the bonus features on the DVD, there is a short documentary called "The Hard Cut" (I think) that focuses on the scene where

And M. Night was talking about how excited he was to have the free reign to make a really intense R Rated movie, (evidently all his others were pg13) and how much freedom it gave him and how intense The Happening was, and I really had to think back to determine what gave it the R-rating because all the deaths were done so ineffectively, even the scene above, that it really didn't click with you that you were supposed to be feeling anything other than amusement

I am really amazed that you guys got The Happening so quickly, I mean apart for RiffTrax I can't say I had really even heard of it before.

I think the big marketing campaign in the US beat us over the head with it.  The commercials just started again with the DVD release.  As far as the movie itself goes,  I didn't think it was all that bad, (not that great either) but a lot of people don't share my opinion.  The premise itself lends itself to riffing.

Ok so this is currently getting a bit of a promotional push at the moment? Makes a bit of sense.

You lucky bastard! I saw it at the cinema.

Interesting, I was wondering if it had been given a cinematic release down under at all, guess it did.

We go see every M Night movie, because he is so fun to hate.

Haha fair enough, I don't think I have bothered to watch anything of his since Unbreakable.

Yeah, that's the movie that instilled the hate. We got all excited to see it, and went in a huge group on opening night.

A night that will live in infamy.

And it's "The Happening". Think I'll pass on this one.

Really? There's hardly a film that's more suited for riffing.

People don't want us riffing bad movies, remember?

People will be upset with anything you do, and even everything you don't do.

Welcome to the internet.

I haven't seen this one yet, but had it on my Netflix queue already and will now see it with the Rifftrax.

I'm kinda hot and cold with M. Night's films.

I enjoyed Sixth Sense, Signs, and Unbreakable (very underrated film IMO). But I have never seen any of his other films, because the premises just seemed too silly.

I look forward to checking this one out.

This movie is a 2 hour long set up for oh so many jokes if you're not already busy laughing at how bad the movie/acting is. It's still painful and the only suggested way to watch this would probably be with Rifftrax.

Relaxing Dragon

A friend of mine (who is a hardcore M. Night fan, and deeply and sincerely enjoyed every other film he's made) didn't think this one was too good. Another friend thought it was the worst film in years (and he said that after he watched Meet The Spartans). So, two negatives on my personal review scale.

But hey, I enjoyed Lady in the Water (it's a good movie!), so maybe I'll get some fundamental enjoyment out of this. Of course I'd still rather watch it in the safety and comfort of a Riff :P

BTW, if you sign up with Redbox online, you can get a code for a free night's rental. This means that my Rifftrax of this movie will be totally and utterly free. AWSM.

I still can't believe the poster doesn't have one of them holding a hot dog.  :)
