As a certified nerd, I was feeling down and out last year.   Some people take pleasure and meaning from their family, friends, community and career, but, for me, everything good in the universe seemed to be ending.   Star Wars was finally complete.   Star Trek seemed down for the count.   Lord of the Rings was finished.   Everything I was used to having to look forward to in life was gone, and Paris Hilton was still a celebrity and Dukes of Hazzard made a profit.   Surely, the end times were upon us.

Then I heard that Rifftrax had come into existance and, after many years of drinking deep of every MST3K episode ever made, I actually had new movie riffs from the great Mike Nelson to listen too!   Not only that but Kevin and Bill were going to join in on certain tracks.   How soon my seemingly empty cup filled to overflowing!  Now I do have something wonderful to look forward to!   Thanks Rifftrax for saving me for a pointless and empty existance!

Having just discovered Rifftrax, I too feel rejuvenated! I watched my first one last night, Top Gun (my wife's favorite, lol... she likes the jets). Funny how I never remembered how much homo-eroticism was in that flick... a job well done Mike and Bill, I can't wait to see the rest! I'm anxiously awaiting the "commentary-riffed" DVDs of Night of the Living Dead, Plan 9 and Little Shop of Horrors to arrive at my doorstep!

Yes, those are tears of joy you see....

Plan 9 is classic,
I recommend Crossroads or Episode 1 as your next rifftrax (but as you'll find out everyones opinions in the roundtable vary)

PS. don't forget about the rest of the Legend line up

I'm a give you the heads up...

Interestingly I just ordered the balance of the Legends lineup today... I believe my next 2 riffs wil be Episode 1 and X-Men (since I already have them). If I can dig up my VHS tapes from the crawlspace, I might be able to get my hands on Cocktail and Halloween and Star Trek V... nah, sounds like too much work, it'll be easier to just go buy em, lol...

Interestingly enough, I'm the ONLY person here that prefers VHS for Rifftrax.

I can definately see where there might be benefits, but I am probably not alone when I say, I don't have a VCR anymore.

but borrowing (and still borrowing ;) ) a VCR made Roadhouse and Cocktail riffs possible for me... imagine my surprise when I actually ended up preferring it.

What did you prefer about using VHS? I used a tape of Top Gun and had a tough time keeping it synched. Magnetic tape gets stretched, spindle speeds can vary slighlty, etc.

It's worth it if only for the "Woman Who Likes the 3 Stooges" sketch.  Shhh!  No spoilers!

Yeah, they nailed those skits to perfection. I wish they would've parodied the stooges a bit more though (I'm talking wigs people).

As for my preference to vhs; in addition to RoadHouse and Cocktail, I have repurchased episode 1, top gun, point break, and x-men (@ 1 dollar each). So far I can speak for all but point break (which I haven't watched "vhs" yet) that there were zero glitches.

Vhs is far from perfect however, the sound quality is poor and the video is in full screen.
