Again, there's a difference between iRiffs and Rifftrax Presents IMO.  iRiffs are riffs made by the fans, for the fans.  Rifftrax Presents is riffs that are riffed (with the exception of Matthew Elliot up to this point) by Kevin and/or Bill.

Well there is a difference between iRiffs and RiffTrax Presents, but not how you lay it out.  RiffTrax Presents are performers that are hand picked by RiffTrax.  They can feature Kevin, Bill, Mary Jo, Matthew Elliot, Josh Fruhlinger, Cole, Janet, improv groups, actors, comedians.  The point of it is someone whose work we admire and choose to present to everybody, and you can hopefully feel comfortable knowing that it will be up to a certain standard, both funny and technical wise.  We're hopeful that we can get lots more people to contribute their talents under this banner as well, whether people have heard about them or not.  If they're not exactly what you are used to...well, that's kind of the point.

So IRiffs could be seen as a potential farm system for Rifftrax Presents.

Although I do already own a copy of Dirty Dancing, which is a plus.

...you own a copy of Dirty Dancing?

Bought it for $3.99 at Best Buy a year or so ago in the hopes that Mike was gonna riff it eventually.  It's been sitting on my shelf unopened since then.  I think I have seen the movie once or twice over the years.

Dude, at least keep it in your sock drawer with your other shameful DVDs. ;)

Dude, I own two copies (three if you count VHS).  NO SHAME.

That said, I am female, so at least I have that going for me.

Of course.  iRiffs could also be a single take of a guy without a script who's breathing too close to his mic.  That's the point of iRiffs, anything goes.  Hopefully thru the magic of feedback, the great ones will of course rise to the top, and you'll be able to avoid the ones that aren't worth your time.  We'd hope that we've earned enough credibility that with the RiffTrax Presents banner, that people would take a chance on something new.

You're also free not to.  It's your time and money.

I demand that Rifftrax start listing the exact number of funny jokes in each track on the product page so I can decide if it's worth my nickel.

Oh yes, actually I mentioned that as an encouragement for people to contribute to IRiffs :)

Back on to more important issues then:

$2.99??  What up wit dat?  Seems a bit pricey for a riff by two unknowns.  Now I think I'm back on the fence about buying this one.  Better wait until I see the sample and hear some comments from folks that have seen it.  Although I do already own a copy of Dirty Dancing, which is a plus.  Makes that $2.99 price tag a bit easier to swallow.

I don't really know what to say.  Where would this start to seem worth it to you, seeing as how all our other two person riffs have cost this much?

There's a big difference in charging $2.99 for Bill and Mary Jo and charging $2.99 for Cole and Janet.  Especially their first time out.  Maybe having their first one cost $1.99 and then raise the price for their second one.  You charged $2.99 for Spider-Man 2 and that was with 3 riffers.  What was the reason for that?  Did you think that people wouldn't pay $3.99 for a three man riff that didn't include Mike?  Well maybe people won't want to pay $2.99 for a riff with two people they have never heard of?

I know it seems silly to argue about a buck or two, especially since I'll probably be buying it regardless.  But that buck or two may make the difference in getting the sale from folks on the fence about these two unknowns.  That's all I was trying to say.

Or give one away. If you're really interested in people "trying something different," charging them for it isn't the answer.  I watched Josh Way's stuff because it was free. If I'd have had to pay for it, I wouldn't have.

The problem with this would be putting it thusly to people "We're big fans of your work.  We think you're really funny and would love to feature you as a RiffTrax Presents.  Of course, we won't be paying you for the first one, you'll have to put in the hours and hours of work on a free one, then do another one before we can charge for it."

Nobody is right or wrong to want or not want to buy something we've put out.  But if you need reassurance, we'd hope we'd have some credibility in terms of picking funny people to work with.

I agree, free would be silly.  And I do trust you guys to bring in only top people.  Even at $2.99 or $3.99, Rifftrax still brings you the most entertainment bang for your buck.  Sorry if I seemed a bit confrontational before.  I was only curious about the price.

I might just have to try that.  Toss my script and just breathe a lot...  sometimes all asthamtically and throaty, and other times just thru my nose with a little sinus whistle thanks to the ol' deviated sceptum.  Perhaps a cough or two.

I think that would make Psycho that much creepier.

Of course, having said this, we do have something pretty cool coming in a just few weeks time...

I for one am very excited about this one... more specifically my girlfriend is very excited.  When I told her about it she squealed a little bit.  I think there was an OMFG as well.  I had to explain that it didn't come out until Tuesday... news she did not take well.   But you guys came out with one my gf is excited about.  So high five sirs.

So...why is it taboo to say you'd rather have Mike riffing this?

It's not taboo, it's tacky.

Every time the guys invites new people to the party there are pages and pages of, Awww, you're not Mike etc.

Jeez, for all you guys know, they are reading the forums.

Besides. this movie most likely became off limit for Mike and the gang when Glitter and Crossroads were the lowest selling trax (despite them both being awesome) and when it became apparent that the older movies just don't sell nearly as well as the more current blockbusters. (you know, when they became sell-outs)

It's a fact that Mike and the gang can't riff every movie ever, and we know that this one wasn't on the top of the pile.

I'm glad we're getting this movie at all, and I welcome the newcomers to try their hands. If I don't like what they do, I will be the first to say it, but I think if they've been hand selected to join the crew then they deserve the benefit of the doubt, and maybe we could try being welcoming instead of so damn negative?
FINE

Bob

Anyhow........ does it matter which version of the movie we use?    Do you know which version was used in making the Rifftrax?

Thanks.

No one is complaining about the choices of riffers. Just the choice of movie.
