I am looking forward to this, and I am dissapointed Mike isn't involved, I was really hoping this would be the movie Bridgett came back to riff with Mike. Good to see a woman riffing on this, though. That always brings a different flavor to the proceedings and provides variety from the Mike, Kevin, Bill standard. I don't know who these new people are, but I trust Rifftrax to have funny guests.

Now, wait a minute. Didn't Mike pretty much promise us a Dirty Dancing RiffTrax in an interview a while back?

This movie is a riffing goldmine. Guess that means it's all but unavailable for Mike now... :'(

He's not going to run out of movies to do, you know?

Yeah I thought he said as much in Courtney's interview.

QuoteOnce and for all, the fans must know, will you ever riff Red Dawn?

I'm gonna not take the weasel's way out. I'm gonna say yes. I screened it about a month and a half ago I think, and yes, so the answer's yes.

My secret shame was I had never seen it before, I don't know how I'd managed to avoid it, but it's awesome. And I'd never seen Dirty Dancing. I watched that with Bridget a couple weeks ago. That is coming too. Nobody puts that movie in a corner.

And it is.

On Tuesday.

he doesn't ever say he specifically would be riffing the movie.

Yeah...ok...

Next week: Red Dawn!!!! ... riffed by the female DisembAudio and  Matthew J. Elliot*.

I'm not doubting that these two people are fantastic comedians. It's just that Swayze is sacred territory to RiffTrax.

*Again, not a diss against Matthew J. Elliot. I liked his riff on Dark Water.

and much like the new prices for rifftrax, and the string of releases for recent films, this too now begins it's debate

So...why is it taboo to say you'd rather have Mike riffing this?

Because if you're not kissing the Rifftrax guy's asses 100 percent of the time you're a heathen.
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

Personally - I'm meh about the movie and riffers. I only remember the movie for the soundtrack, and have never heard of the riffers before now.

My 2 cents here:  I heard the announcement via email, so my immediate thought was, "I'm gonna do a Road House / Dirty Dancing double-feature (with RiffTrax of course) this weekend!"  Now I find out it's done by 2 different people (aka Not Mike), I am scrapping those plans.  I think I wouldn't have done that were it Bill & Kevin just as well.  I know I'm coming off as a naysayer without even giving these new people a chance, but just think about that double-feature.  Doesn't sound as awesome, does it?

Can somebody provide me a link to that interview with Mike about screening Dirty Dancing please?  I would love to read the whole thing.  Thanks.

Please, I implore one and all not to kiss my hind quarters.  Not comfortable with said interpersonal transaction.

i don't think its taboo to say you'd rather have Mike riffing DD..

I just think people don't want a 10 page bitch-fest wherein nothing is achevied, insults are hurdled, and deep down a little bit of every forum member dies inside.

Anyone remember back when Lowtax was announced and the crap that went back and forth?....

Just sayin'.......

I personally am excited about this one.  I have never seen the movie, really... and I don't care who riffs it, as long as they are good.  If they aren't, I'll still probably enjoy it.  **shrug**

I will only complain about wishing Mike did this if the riffers suck.... so.... after the fact!  Which means either way, I'm getting this.

...and I'm rambling again.  I guess what I am trying to say is that I am very open to guest riffers or even new riffers altogether even without an alumni alongside, just as long as we still get the Mike on other riffs.
...and there he was, reigning supreme at number two.  The One... The Only... The Unabeefer.

On a more serious note:

Guys? There's a regular edition of this, an Ultimate Edition and a 20th Anniversary Edition. Which one is the cut used?

Pak-Man

I'm not one to complain, but I can see how it would be a bit disappointing to see this particular door close. When Matthew Elliott did Dark Water and House of Wax, he was touching territory that Mike and Co. weren't expected to go to anyway. I think people are disappointed that it's less likely we'll hear Mike's take on this movie now. (Not to say it's impossible. Mike could probably come up with a completely different set of jokes. It does seem counterintuitive...)

I don't think it's a matter of the choice of Guest Riffers. (I look forward to hearing what they've got.) I think it's the choice of movie and what it means to the larger Rifftrax brand. I wouldn't want an unknown troop of guest riffers to take on LOTR: Return of the King, or Red Don, or Doon, either. When/If Rifftrax takes those on, I want AT LEAST one of the big three around to make those dreams come true. (Heck. Weird Al, NPH, and Fred Willard could take 'em on and it would be a touch disappointing.)

On the other hand, Dirty Dancing wasn't exactly a megarequest either. It's been thrown around a lot, mostly because of the Swayz, and people were excited from the prospect of the Mike Interview, but it's not the kind of movie or the Era that Rifftrax has profited from in the past, so I can see why this one went to the realm of Rifftrax Presents. Still, a spoonfull of Bill or Kevin would have helped the medicine go down, I think.

I suppose we just don't want guest-riffers under the Rifftrax Presents banner taking up the really big movies, or at least that's my take. I'm still gonna get this track, and I'm probably gonna laugh until I'm sore. This isn't an outrage or anything. It's just a shift in expectations for this one movie.

Just my two pennies.
