Doctor Who?

There was Homer's Nights out,War of the Simpsons,Marge in the fast lane, and those are just the time it happened in the first two seasons.

For me this story was played out at the end of season two and they kept doping it,so i wasn't happy that they made the movie about it too.

Sorry it's just matter of my taste.

Tripe

Are those episodes where Homer leaves Marge?

No but Marge left Homer in the movie so i am not sure what you are trying to say.

I am just sick of stories that have Homer and Marge breaking up,for me it's been done to death.

If you liked it more power to you but it put me to sleep.

I was asking if it's ever been done that way, with homer leaving Marge.

It seems Homer is always the reason for the split, but Marge is sort of annoying too at times.

Tripe

Yeah I mentioned Mindy, ok the closest one then would be that last one.

But again it's him being a tit that's leading to the breakup.

Tripe

Ah ok, see it all blends together after a while.

Tripe

Oh I don't care one way or the other I was simply interested in how the narrative has played out through the history of the show :)

Doctor Who?

Well by the end of season four they had pretty much done it every way you could think of and they kept doing it at least once a season after that so you can see how some people would get tired of it.

I can only think all the writers on the simpsons have been devoiced at least five time if the show is anything like their real lives.

Tripe

I think they move up the stories of their early life together every five years as well (something that comic strips with static characters have to do as well) i think a fairly recent one had them first married during the early '90s.

Doctor Who?

I missed that episode so does Homer now love all those 90s bands he used to hate and does he not even know who the bads from the 70s he used to love are now?

Doctor Who?

Yes sorry your post came up while I was still writing mine(Stupid 26k connection)so i didn't see yours untill after i posted.

Sorry.

I like the movie but.....Streep's accent.  I'm still trying to figure that out.

She may have "had a farm in Africa" but I had a Danish great-grandfather (who was around until I was 18).  He didn't speak as though he had a cleft palate.

Maybe it was a class thing but....   ???

Tripe

Let's be honest another viable entry for this category would be Streep's talent for accents.

She's fair to middling at best.

Sounds about as Australian as those voices on Outback Steakhouse commercials.

The thing about The Simpsons is that there are really only X number of interesting things you'll be able to do with any set of characters in any situation. After a while, you'll more or less have done them all. We've seen this again and again - I mean, look at how freaking absolute genius Red Dwarf was at its height, but no one could tell me with a straight face that by season 8 they hadn't just run out of steam. Doctor Who can maintain its creativity over the decades only because it more or less completely reinvents itself every couple of seasons - and even then, by the mid-80s it was getting stale and really needed to take 15 years or so off. Yes, The Simpsons does produce a really good episode every so often of late, but overall I'm just left wishing that they'd pulled the plug on it a while ago and concentrated all their creative talent on Futurama - which is a franchise that has a lot of life still left in it.

It kinda makes me wonder what Matt and Trey will do once South Park goes away. Hard to believe it's been 11 years - and still going strong. Some of my favorite episodes (Make Love, Not Warcraft; Canada On Strike; Major Boobage) have been in the last couple of seasons. But it, too, will wind down and get stale eventually.
