This thread is about guilty pleasures, right? To me that would mean sucky movies that you enjoy.
First off- I love Demolition Man. I find it a great comedy of political correctness gone way too far.
  On with the suckage:
My whaole family enjoys McHale's Navy. Stupid, cheesy movie, but we love it.
  Ditto for Down Periscope.
Hell, we even like Wild Hogs!
Yes these movies are stupid, but if they weren't then there would be no guilt associated with watching them, now would there?

Here's a movie to start an argument.....Deep Blue Sea.   I like it.  It's kind of fun.  :D

Was waiting for someone to bring this up. That movie is pretty fun as it is (cant argue with super sharks munching on people), and made completely worthwhile when

Agreed, also pretty much everything LL Cool J does.  It's like those two were in their own movie.
Like Mindhunters very much too.  Although it's a bit more graphic than I usually like.  I'm starting to work backward on Renny Harlin movies now finally - just borrowed The Last Kiss Goodnight from the library.  Looks like a really nasty movie.   :o

Dim of the Yard

I feel tempted to bring up Tideland.  It was critically panned (Entertainment Weekly gave the movie an F!), nobody saw the movie, but I still kind of enjoyed it.  I think it's the best film Gilliam's put out since Brazil.

I'll tale it a step further.  I liked it a lot.  Challengning, to be sure, but I still don't understand why it was as universally hated as it was.

Isn't that movie the reason he agreed to direct The Brothers Grimm (still too soon Dim)? He did it to get the money to do Tideland?

I've actually been wanting to watch that for some time now. The plot looks like something I could really get into, and I've loved everything else he's done. But those are some nasty reviews it got, so that's been putting me off for a while. Still, gonna rent that next chance i get.

And Entertainment Weekly has proven time and time again that they're a bunch of morons (gave a C to Burn After Reading. Ridiculous), so I tend to ignore their reviews.

I enjoyed it too.  I'm saying this for probably the tenth time, but I thought Jodelle Ferland was brilliant in the movie.

Here's another film I liked that practically no one else/liked:  Brown Bunny.

I liked it in a cheesy fun way as well.  The science in the film was horrific, but it was still fun.

Oh, hell.....if that's your criteria, bang goes 9/10ths of the Sci-Fi genre.

Isn't that the one where Chloe Sevigny goes down on the director onscreen?  Is there context for that?

Yes, though it arguable that it could've been tamer and retained the same feeling.  The reason why I liked it is that overall mood of the film is maintained quite beautifully.  It's mournful, lonely, and quite brave, considering the reputation of its star/writer/director, Vincent Gallo.

That's what I wonder when I think, "Gee, will the guys ever riff Brothers Grimm?"  Personally, I don't think it's too soon at all.

(You know what?  Brothers Grimm was another movie that I enjoyed that nobody else did, but I think they have a good reason for not enjoying it.  I don't know whether I enjoyed it based on, "Hey, it's a Gilliam film!" or whether I enjoyed it based on the film's own merits, but I like that movie.  It's still at the top of my list for "must see riffed," though.)

I think you're right, JewCarp.  Or rather, Wikipedia says you're right.  The fact he had no other projects going on at the time also kind of helped, but it was mostly for Tideland funding.

I was turned off by the negative reviews for a while, as well, and when I got around to seeing it, I was glad I did.  I'd say it's certainly a film to see at least once, even if you come out of it absolutely loathing the film and thinking Gilliam is a sick bastard for having put that to film.

ScottotD

I liked Brothers Grimm too, it has a Sleepy Hollow meets Rosencrantz and Gildenstern thing.

Excuse the spelling.

What does a shark with a brain the size of a flat-head V8 engine think about?

Well, how to eat its agent and make it look like an accident, for one.

Doctor Who?

I could never figure out what was wrong with the FF movies.

I enjoyed watching them both.
