Ok not the greatest comedy ever but I'd watch it, it's looked like it might have some moments. :-\

Those were the best parts, sorry to say.  It only gets worse:

Quote from: Natureboy on September 06, 2008, 07:12:59 PMThere are more Jerry Lewis bashers than there are fans.  The only time I ever enjoyed anything from him was when Dean Martin carried that hack.

I'd be interested to see the statistics there.  I don't find Jerry funny all the time, but he's had some very funny moments, both with and without Dean.

Let me rephrase, I know of no one in real life that likes Jerry Lewis, but you go ahead and ask me for statistics but don't ask kodiakthejuggler for any.  Because Lewis has millions of fans.  right?  Fuck, Paris Hilton can claim millions of fans and she is also talentless.

That has nothing to do with anything. Does anyone even like Paris Hilton? I don't really give a shit about her. The only time I was ever confronted with her was when she appeared on My Name Is Earl. Her only job was to repeat the same line over and over. She didn't really bother me, but she didn't add anything to the proceedings. If I saw her in a film performance where she gave a genuinely good performance, I might say something nice about her, but I genuinely don't care about her. I sincerly doubt that anyone really does, and they certainly wouldn't give her the same amount of respect as Jerry Lewis' fans have for him.

Do you even read these posts or just babble?  I was comparing the number of fans or more specifically the general range of "millions" of fans that was said to be just enamored with Jerry Lewis.

BTW - Here is the "hilarious" Sammy Petrillo in Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla:

And I was saying that you're crazy if you think Paris Hilton has any fans, much less the many that Lewis has. And yes, Brooklyn Gorilla is indeed funny.

Damn... I had to look again to see if that was really Jerry! And the Dean Martin look-alike? I'm not surprised they were sued.

The one that introduced Bobcat Goldthwait  was pretty entertaining (was that the second?)

Mind you I find Bobcat pretty funny in so much of his oeuvre.

They were....by Lewis.  Or at least Petrillo was.  Martin didn't want to and tried to talked Lewis out of it....his attitude was live and let live since they weren't costing them jobs or using their exact routines.

At least, that was the story that Petrillo told in an interview in Filmfax Magazine.

Anyway, it came to trial (which can be checked).  Lewis' argument was that Petrillo was using Lewis' image without permission for financial gain.  Petrillo's attorney showed the judge the records of plastic surgery Lewis had had done on his face before becoming famous and argued that if anybody was using anyone's natural face it was the other way around.  The judge threw out the case.

But Lewis got friends to kill their career - asked people not to hire them as a favor.

That was the second, yes, and the last really good one.

BTW, if you ever get the chance to see Bobcat do stand-up live these days, take it.

I actually really liked Demolition Man.  It had fun action scenes, Wesley Snipes was good as basically a Joker clone, and I thought it was a fun satire of what could happen if you went way too far with censorship and sort of nanny-law stuff.  It wasn't Citizen fucking Kane but it was immensely entertaining.

...We can curse on this forum, right?

This isn't quite what the topic is asking, but I've found Brick to be a very divisive movie.  I loved the hell out of it but my dad hated it, my friend Harold got bored with it very quickly, and my mom thought it was good.
