Doctor Who?

Nah it was overrated.

In fact everything Ralph Baskli did is overrated.

Most people hate his lord of the Rings and that is still overrated.

Well, that's the end of this thread.   :P

Doctor Who?

I mean people worship him as if he is the greatest director who ever lived,he isn't even that good an animation director let alone out and out director.

I wouldn't even rate him as good.

His Lord of the Rings is worse then Manos.

At least Manos had an ending.

I gotta say I was very disappointed with Hellboy 2. They didn't do anything in terms of character development or story. I mean Hellboy just basically had to deal with persecution complex, and his girlfriend was pregnant and Hellboy fought some stereotypical cookie-cutter villain who had a stereotypical guilt ridden sister of the villain. Some people seemed to love how Hellboy got drunk in one scene which I don't get at all. When I go out and get drunk, people don't laugh at me, they just say "Please step back at least fifty meters please".

Amen.  Although I was okay with the villain and the sister....

It's just that so much of that film was telegraphed from the start

It just never felt like it gelled.  The mutant marketplace always felt like a set no matter what.  That baby wouldn't have survived a minute of that without a broken neck.

I'm sorry.  I wanted to love this movie.

PsychosesMan

I tend not to see stuff until it hits video, so I couldn't tell you about The Dark Knight, but Batman Begins was so boring.  It was glacially-paced and they just crammed so much pre-Batman origin story in there without taking the time to even make it interesting.

Also, and I say this as a die-hard Blade Runner fanboy, Blade Runner is overrated.  I love it to death but the romance between Deckard and Rachel is very poorly done, the unicorn scene in The Final Cut and the pseudo-director's cut is silly and unnecessary, and it moves kinda slowly.

I have to say The Simpsons movie.

Yes it had some good parts but there were long streches were I didn't laugh.

There is no way it lived up to the hype.

Thanks for posting this......I completely forgot I saw that movie 2 minutes after it was over.  I may not be the best judge though, I think The Simpon's tv show jumped the shark about 5 years ago anyway.

Doctor Who?

Believe it or not i fell asleep for about 10 or 15 minutes while watching it at the theater, and it was the movie I was most looking forward too last summer!!

It felt like it had 15 minutes of plot stretched out to 100 minutes.

The show has started to get good again in the last couple of years so this movie was a big downer.

I'd still rather watch the Simpsons movie than other comedies out there. I will admit though it certainly was below par. Speaking of, I thought both of the Futurama movies were pretty weak. Yeah they had their moments but they weren't really all that funny.

I thought the Simpsons movie wasn't as funny as your average Simpsons episode, but I thought the story was actually well-played and had a lot of heart.  That might not be enough to redeem what is esentually a comedy movie, but the movie did have the Homer/Marge dynamic at its best.

I've seen the movie a lot of times and I still tear up at Homer's "saving people I hate for reasons I don't quite understand" line.  :'(

Agreed on the Homer/Marge dynamic.  The scene where Marge is my favorite work Julie Kavner's ever done.

Doctor Who?

I don't know to me it was just another Marge leaves Homer story and that has been done a hundred times on the TV show so I just could not enjoy it.

QFT. For me, The Simpsons Movie wasn't about jokes involving environmentalism, government wiretappings, or pigs. It was about a man who wants to do right for his wife and family, but constantly lets his selfishness get in the way. I probably choked up almost as many times as I laughed during the movie, and it was enough to make me forgive the gags that fell flat (and the one that was outright stolen from "Wrongfully Accused" and probably a thousand other places).

Thinking about it, have they ever really done the reverse, I mean the episode with Mindy sort of was leading in that direction but it's not quite the same.

And Marge can be just as grating as Homer but in different ways so i could see an episode like that working.
