And finally, Empire Records. I wanted to be Lucas, he was the coolest character I'd ever seen in a film.

Every once in a while, I have my own personal Rex Manning Day.  It mostly consists of me yelling out It's Rex Manning Day to the cats.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

Oh rexy! You're so sexy!

Empire Records is the reason I love Ac/Dc

Wait, is Empire Records a movie people don't like?  I was too busy loving it with every breath in my body to notice.  Rap, metal, rap metal, Whitney Houston.

I too LOVE BASEketball.  Death to Smoochy, too.  Sometimes it's hard to tell what people will like and what people won't.  I mean, I remember when DTS came out and I was convinced it would be hugely critically acclaimed and it just wasn't.  But movies in a similar vein are praised.  I don't get it.

I think we talked about this a lot when the riff came out, but I think Saw is great, and I don't consider it torture porn.  Hostel was torture porn.  The Saw sequels are debateable, but the original is a really well done and necessary horror flick that revitalized the genre.

Okay, now I'm going to say this and this is going to be controversial, but Napoleon Dynamite.  I saw it the first weekend it came out in limited release and my friends and I thought it was hilarious.  It was different and small and just an innocuous funny movie.  Of course two months later it had literally taken over the entire country and everyone was quoting it and that's when the hate started setting in.  But when you look past the countless frat boy dumbasses yelling "IDIOT!" every five minutes,  it's not bad at all.

Nick

I liked Chronicles of Riddick, though a whole host of people (i.e. the planet earth) didn't like it.

I like a lot of Adam Sandler movies as well (ducks thrown fruit). Hey what can I say? I liked Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky. And found the new Longest Yard hilarious.

And Independence Day is one of my most favorite movies ever. I better leave now.  :speechless:
Killing me won't bring back your Goddamned honey!

Ditto on Napoleon Dynamite.  The four of us love it!

Doctor Who?

I love Peter Jackson's king Kong as much as the 1933 version.

Sky Captain is one of my top 20 movies of all time.

I also saw Superman Returns twice in the theater.

BBQ Platypus

I...actually found Con Air to be pretty entertaining.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Great finally one I could agree with. Though I did think that pretty much everyone involved was in on a joke (except perhaps Cage)

I actually liked the movie Trick or Treat (try to find that one).

I can see all of the points on this thread about all of these movies having some merit except two:  Battlefield Earth and Hudson Hawk.  Those are just dreadfully painful.  the rest, I may or may not personally enjoy them, but I can see where some people would.  King Kong has an exciting ten or fifteen minutes to it.  Take the Architect out of The Matrix Reloaded and it is decent.

Relaxing Dragon

I actually liked the Architect scenes, once i figured out what the hell he was talking about (it's the big Church dance that kill me in that movie... so very, very unnecessary).

Trick or Treat as in Trick r' Treat? Didn't know that was out anywhere yet (and I really want to see it, too). Or am I getting my movies mixed up?

This is the one from the 1980's starring Marc Price, Tony Fields, and has cameos by Ozzy Osbourne as a preacher and Gene Simmons as a DJ.

I found the DVD at Target about four years ago for 5.00

You can it cheap at Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000096FVG/ref=sr_1_olp_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1220387803&sr=1-1

BTW - I didn't mean to sound like I was flaming anyone who likes Hudson Hawk or Battlefield Earth (I would only do that if someone said they loved Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla like some of those IMDB lunkheads who give this pile of shit a 10 rating).
