"Come on, it wasn't that bad."

I think there oughta be a thread where people can say what movies they like without fear of being mocked(Unless of course it's something we can all agree it sucks ass like Howard the Duck or Battlefield earth or something).
Anybody seen The Adventures of Ford Fairlane? I know it got panned by critics universally when it came out but I think it's actually an alright movie. It stars Andrew Dice Clay as a foul-mouthed smart ass detective. in other words, he plays himself. Also stars Wayne Newton, Lauren Holly, Gilbert Gottfried and Robert Englund.

I liked BASEketball.  And Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.  And I'm not ashamed to admit it.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I can say I've actually *watched* Ford Fairlane, though I remember giggling through most of it, especially the first fifteen minutes.

BASEketball, on the other hand, I love, so n worries there, BBQ. (No comment on Kung Pow in spirit with the "without fear of being mocked" part of this thread.)

Some movies that are my guilty pleasures:

Masters of the Universe
The Running Man
Hudson Hawk

Relaxing Dragon

I actually enjoyed Lady in the Water (I think there's about two or three other people in the world who liked it too, so I'm not completely alone). I liked the story, and loved all the characters, and still enjoy it when I watch it. I should note that when I watched it, I had no idea what M. Night Shamallamalon looked like or sounded like or any of that, so I sorta missed a lot of the pretentiousness.

I also liked The Matrix sequels (yes, both of them; I'm telling you, chop out most of the Zion stuff and a bunch of other fluff, and there's two good movies hiding under there) and Ocean's Twelve. Also Thir13en Ghosts... kinda. Well, I liked the editing (I loved Domino, after all, so stroke-inducing cutting is something I can dig).

Oh, I almost forgot a couple others: Dana Carvey's "Clean Slate".

The Further Adventures of Baron Munchausen (spelling's probably off).

And finally, Empire Records. I wanted to be Lucas, he was the coolest character I'd ever seen in a film.

I liked Lady in the Water also. I love (almost)  all his movies... just because they stray from the usual typical hollywood formulas. He always does an excellent job at making you care for the characters. Lets face it, who in hollywood isn't pretentious.  With that said, I thought "The Happening" was quite poor.  He was aiming for a high budget B-movie vibe... that failed miserably. It definitely was filmed like a high budget b-movie, but without any interesting/quirky characters, situations, humor or decent gore! What that heck else do we watch b-movies for anyways!

With that said, I find myself enjoying Flash Gordon even now. Don't know why... maybe its just seeing Ornella Muti again.......... yup its gotta be the spandex.

I liked Lady in the Water too.  And I actually didn't "hate" The Happening.  I thought it coulda been better but it was still better than a lot of other crap I've gone to see this year.

BASEketball rules.

My pick that I absolutely love, that no one else seems too is Death to Smoochy.

Kung Pow, Hudson Hawk, Flash Gordon and Death to Smoochy are all films I love to watch repeatedly!  and quote quite often as well.

My pick that a lot of people seem not to like is Clifford, I will admit that I love it.

I say this on many threads, I can almost always think of something I enjoyed about even the worst movie.

I applaud you sir for this thread, this place needs more positivity/perspective.

I own and enjoy Battlefield Earth by the way.

Hey, that film's the reason I actually rented Master of Disguise, man. Is it supposed to be bad? (MoD sucked completely, however.)

I agree with several of those already listed, though some of them are because it was bad specifically.  Like Masters of the Universe.  The movie was so horrible I love it.  Same with Super Mario Bros.

BASEketball was funny, the Matrix sequels seemed okay at first.  A step down in quality, but not horrible.  Never got into Kung Pow, but I loved Kung Fu Hustle.  Fatal Instinct is a good one that no one else seems to remember.

Smoochy is a great dark comedy but it's not for everyone.  Edward Norton and Robin Williams are both fantastic in it.

Agreed there.  Took me awhile to see it, but once I gave it a shot I was very glad I did.  Love that movie, need to pick up my own copy of it soon.

How could someone NOT like Flash Gordon (with all the scenery chewing by multiple cast members) and the sound track?

BASEKETBALL was very much true to life for my friends and me as we spend a lot of time trying to combine games that could be played in a driveway and street.    Speaking of that, whay is "Team Handball" in the Olympics and not Baseketball?
