I think this is the best way to keep the Vader/Father secret a surprise to anyone who hasn't seen it. There's no perfect way, but it is the best.

Plus let's imagine we have Vader as a separate character, all of "Vader"'s line in the OT become even more shocking when we realise in Empire that he has been going by another identity these past however many years.

I like it, as a narrative device it works very well from a certain point of view.

Oh and my baby sister watched the series in numeric order, she's not a fan.

Some other thoughts:

I'm thinking the three ages of A. should be 15, 25 and say 30, they would fit best in the arc we want to tell.

Also the third film should end with the clone war still continuing (allowing for Kenobi to help Aldaraan in the interim, maybe the approaching threat from the clone forces should be indicated in the third movie).

So I was reading the synopses of the radio Dramas, never listened to them before, I'm going to have a listen now though.

I don't know why but your mentioning of the radio dramas reminded me of this whimsical antecdote about my husband (A Pretty Girl Is Like).

When he was a kid he used to ride around on the trains in NYC (going to school or what have you), listening to the Star Wars movies on a cassette tape on his walkman. He had a friend who took the time to sit there in front of his tv with a tape recorder and my nerdy husband somehow got the tapes and would ride with them blasting in his ears. This blew my mind. I mean, the movies, yeah, I get watching them. But listening to them?

That's nerd dedication of the highest order right there.

Unfortunatly the none of the libraries in my area have the radio dramas. >:(

Shame because I'd like to see if they could inform the creation of the Mulligan Trilogy.

Gnnn.... Can we figure out a way to write Luke out of existence?

I actually saw the radio drama of Return of the Jedi at a local Half-Price Books. I'm just not sure if I'd enjoy it or not. While I'm not a huge fan of the prequels, the original theatrical version of the OT is almost sacred to me.

But he has to go to Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!

Now now, he has to be there so I can enjoy watching him strafed with blue lightning ;)

And his whineyness should prompt writers to portray Anakin as significantly cooler.

IF ONLY LUCAS HAD BORN THAT IN MIND

You know, it might have helped.

Doctor Who?

The first two radio dramas are better then the movies but the third one was made years latter  by difforant people on a cut budget so it is not very good.

You know, Timothy Zahn, who is in mine and many other fans' opinions, the best Expanded Universe author, told a story about how he and his family would record the audio from movies onto audiocassettes to play for the kids on long car trips, and among the movies they did that for were the original Star Wars trilogy.  Which was naturally a favorite of the kids.  Which meant that the Zahn family listened to the Star Wars trilogy many times, and probably became more familiar with the audio of it than they were with the visuals.  Which, Timothy Zahn thinks, is why he's able to write the dialogue of the OT characters almost pitch-perfect.  He became intimately familiar with how Han Solo, via Harrison Ford, would say things, and where Luke would pause for effect, and precisely how Threepio would phrase something.

In any case, I think it would have been much better overall if Timothy Zahn had written the prequels.  Heck, his own prequel to his Star Wars novels is much better than any of the movie prequels.

...I think we can all agree that George Lucas, is a genius when it comes to ideas...but when it comes down to writing...he's as mature and talented as a fifth grader. Which is why Empire Strikes Back is the most superior of all the films...

Doctor Who?

Yeah but then we're just left with Leia.....

You really see that being in anyway dramatic?

Junkyard

And now I've finished Empire Strikes Back.

I will see Yoda in my nightmares.

"I'm not afraid of you!"

I would much rather write Leia out than Luke. She was an annoying, ungrateful harpy. Maybe you could just have her in Jabba's scenes as his slave in her bikini, but not be a character in the story.
