Just as long as he doesn't turn into another Jim Mallon. That would just suck. You know what they say about power.

Jim Mallon? Doesn't he still have the long-lost first 4 episodes of MST3K (KTMA season)?

MSTJedi

Wouldn't surprise me. Even if they do suck, that doesn't mean we don't want to see them.

Apparently he does. Or at least its rumored that he has them.
I'd like to think that he does. Too bad he doesn't have a nephew thats into video capturing, who could get a digital copy of these and "accidentally" leak them to DAP or something....    ;D

Steve-O

I was thinking about the "lost" KTMA episodes a while back.  I figure that, even if Jim Mallon wanted copies of those first episodes floating around -- which he clearly doesn't -- there really isn't any impetus for him to release them into the wilds.  Not to mention the fact that there are copyright issues involved that put him at risk if he publicly gives somebody a copy.

So if I knew the man personally, I'd appeal to his better nature.  I'd suggest that he choose a favorite charity, and that we make it known to the MST3K fanbase that they should donate to that charity, and actively work to drum up more donations.  We would set a target dollar amount, and if the total donations passed that amount, Jim would find some way to make one of the KTMAs available for encoding.  If the first MSTiethon turned out to be a success, he could do it three more times, culminating in the eventual release of the pilot.

I'd also point out to him that the time for such an endeavor is now, while the MST3K fan base is as strong as it will likely ever be, and the show is still fresh in people's minds.

But I don't know the guy, so the point is moot.  Still, we aren't going to get those last four episodes by sitting around and kvetching.

The time is now.
The tapes...wherever they might by...are deteriorating as we speak.
If they aren't digitized soon, then might be gone for good  :(

So, they have a poll to see what X-Mas movie people want, then pick some crappy 20 min. short that wasn't even an option for the poll.  ???

It kinda sucks. It would have been really cool to have a Christams movie like Jingle All the Way or Its a Wonderful Life...hell any of the movies on the poll! Like others are saying, it would have have even been better if it was Rudolph. At least that is 1/2 a movie.

I love RiffTrax and what they are doing (except for this), but to build anticipation up for a X-Mas movie by having web polls up for weeks, then ignoring the fanbase to do some weak 20 minute piece instead is pretty lame.

Way to steal Christmas you bunch of Grinches! Ok, its not all that bad, just a big letdown in movie selection.

I guess its MST3K Santa Vs. The Martians for us again on Christmas Eve.

Fret not rrs. I too thought like you, but now that I've watched a bit of Nestor (unriffed), I totally think its gonna be funny.

Pak-Man

I dunno why anyone has a problem with this choice. It's as Christmasy as any other choice, it's animation (Which is rarely riffed) and it's not like they're charging the usual $2.99 for it. It's only a buck for 20+ minutes of top notch entertainment. Won't find a deal like that on Itunes. :^)

Natureboy

I think we can all agree that Mike deserves to have a short work week doing a short....He has been cranking these things out at a blistering pace....

I don't mind this at all.

Edward J Grug III

Why not try watching it before getting upset?

And Mike has said that he wasn't going to be doing Jingle All The Way, so I don't know why people keep convincing themselves that he's going to.

I'm sure had Mike picked Jingle All the Way or Rudolph or anything else, people would have still bitched.

As I've said, this forum has the most PMS of any forum I've ever been on, especially considering it's mostly male  ;)  God forbid he doesn't do the rifftrax playoff movies in order.  If he does JP before B&R, the bitching will flow like beer at an Oktoberfest.

That being said, I too wasn't expecting Nestor and had another choice in mind but he's "the man."  He knows what he wants to sit through.  If I don't like it, I just won't buy it.

[/my contribution to the complaining...complaining about complaining, lol  Now if someone would complain about the complaining about the complaining and then someone would complain about that, this would the be the typical Internet message board]
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

When I first heard that Nestor was going to be the Christmas movie I was pissed too.  That was mostly due to the fact that I thought the purpose of Rifftrax was to riff on movies, not shorts.  Also, having a 20 questions for this short seemed a little nuts to me.  After all, who would've ever guessed a short when all that's ever been riffed are movies?

Still, I've come around in the past few days.  It'll be funny, just short, which is kind of a bummer.  Yet, the $1.00 price tag helped cool me down.  I just hope that riffing shorts doesn't become a regular thing here at Rifftrax.
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

I'm sure Nestor will become a Christmas classic for Rifftrax fans for years to come.  It will be a nice short to watch between your holiday viewings of Santa Claus "No, Lupita!" and Santa Claus Conquers The Martians.

I never wanted them to do Jingle All The Way anyway, so I'm glad they decided to pass on that one.

I would like to respectfully suggest that for next year, they do a Rifftrax for "Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas In July".  It is feature length and features the classic characters.  That way you can goof on Rudolph and Frosty without touching the cherished original versions of those cartoons.  It's a win win situation for all.

Plenty of people have asked about shorts.
