One wonders wether Maverick will be gunning for Xenu's DC-8s from outer space.

I'll definitely be saving watching this one for the inevitable RiffTrax release...

I love how the article refers to Top Gun 2 as a "long awaited sequel."  Yes.  I'm sure that tons of people have been clamoring for a Top Gun sequel.

Another thing that makes me shake my head is that the article is throwing around the word "remake" when Top Gun 2 would be a sequel.  Hence the number 2 after the words "Top Gun."

Anyway, if Cruise actually goes through with this it'll probably be one of the most ridiculous movies of the year.  Really, does the world need another Top Gun movie?
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

RVR II

Yeah, I think Top Gun flew a lot better in the Reagan era than it will after a few years of Iraq - I'm not quite sure the general mood is in quite the same mood right now.

I predict that Top Gun II = Battlefield Earth + Basic Instinct II

You know, we didn't think we needed a Road House 2 either.  And look how that movie changed society, nay, the world.

Doctor Who?

Did we need Dirty Dancing II?

Not remotely, since it was as unrelated to the first one as is humanly possible.

For that matter, why are there so many Sandlot sequels?  IS NOTHING SACRED?

Hmm. Should I mention that next week both War Games: The Dead Code and Lost Boys: The Tribe are released? Nah. Probably not.

I swear, if it wasn't at the same time as the Saw 5/Repo panel, I'd be slightly intrigued by the Lost Boys panel at Comic Con.  If for no other reason than to see how ridiculous it will be.  I know for sure I'm renting it.

I just hated Top Gun with a giant burning passion.

Well, at least this time they won't have to make up a stupid ass fake war for the movie.
