Huh.... I guess I'm the only person who liked The Two Towers the best of the LoTR flicks. I enjoy the movies tremendously, but Gollum in the second movie is the only three-dimensional character. Everyone else is kinda... well, cardboard.

two towers is my favorite of the bunch.  tree beard is just to cool

I liked the Lord of the Rings movies but they have absolutely no replay value in my mind.  I can watch Young Frankenstein at least once or twice a year, so YF gets my vote hands down.

I agree but I have that with drama as a genre really.

Drama isn't usually a problem for me,  I think the fact that it's a 9 to 12 hour process depending on which version you watch that in essence tells 1 story that can't get me motivated to watch them again.

Normally I'll watch a decent drama twice in a week if I think somebody else needs to see it too, but I can't think of anything outside of the recent rifftrax that would make me want to watch them again.

The Two Towers is good and all, but I never really have a desire to revisit those films.  First of all, they seem to lose something if you're not watching them in a theatre (or a really nice home theatre).  Everything has to be just so to let it effect me the same way the first time I saw it.  I just don't have any desire to see it again.  Young Frankenstein on the other hand... well, I think it's a little overrated.  I'm not trying to sleight it but... well... there's an element that I can't put my finger on that holds it back a little in my opinion.  Still I'm going with Young Frankenstein.  It's just more fun and rewatchable.

This is my first non-fanboy vote on one of these matchups. When I was a little kid and we had one of those big converted work vans with a TV and VCR in the back my mom rented Young Frankenstein among others to amuse us on a long car trip. Well, my sisters scoffed at the notion of a black and white movie even though it wasn't that old and my mom assured us it was quite funny. Well, I watched it while they either slept or played gameboy and I was not disappointed. I actually had this same problem just a few weeks ago trying to get a friend to watch Clerks, ultimately having to threaten to walk out and never have another movie night ever again.

The Two Towers was actually my favorite movie of the trilogy and the only one I bought before rifftrax but since watching it riffed, I've come to realise it kind of sucked. I still love several parts such as the Battle of Helms Deep and that bog full of corpses but there's a lot of down time crawling around some rocks, dreaming about the elf chick, and talking to trees (even though I do like Treebeard). Come to think of it, I think I voted against Fellowship as well but that was my least favorite for lack of hour long epic battle scenes.

Peter Jackson doesn't come up with scenes nearly as funny as those of Mel Brooks.

Don't know about that. I don't remember a single Mel Brooks movie where a hippopotamus when on a ten minute gore-and-organ-fueled murder spree with a minigun. And Peter didn't do Robin Hood, Men in Tights.

Both of which give Mel Brooks the edge. The former is a sad attempt at tapping into the sick humor market in order to make one rich and infamous (much like Uwe Boll's recent Postal), and the latter is funnier than anything Peter Jackson has ever come up with ("I have a mole?").

Uh, okay. Not that Meet the Feebles made anyone rich... or even had much of a chance to... but, hey, I guess asserting it makes it true.

Forgotten Silver is funnier than any Brooks movie not called Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein.

I agree, but you left The Producers (the original; no one's funnier than Zero Mostel) off that list. I love mockumentaries.

ScottotD

I like parts of the The Producers but the movie itself doesn't do much for me.

It's a saying.

But still, the only reason Jackson made those early movies was to cash in on the cult/midnight movie market. That's the truth.

Apparently, you love mockumentaries that aren't good. ::)

...anyway.

Two Towers is both the best and worst of the series for me, I think it would've been a cool special feature if you could follow one characters story in the movies.  Select Aragon and get all the battles, birthrights and sweeping romance for example.
