Quote from: Isaac on June 12, 2008, 02:47:55 PMPeter Jackson doesn't come up with scenes nearly as funny as those of Mel Brooks.

Don't know about that. I don't remember a single Mel Brooks movie where a hippopotamus when on a ten minute gore-and-organ-fueled murder spree with a minigun. And Peter didn't do Robin Hood, Men in Tights.

Both of which give Mel Brooks the edge. The former is a sad attempt at tapping into the sick humor market in order to make one rich and infamous (much like Uwe Boll's recent Postal), and the latter is funnier than anything Peter Jackson has ever come up with ("I have a mole?").

Uh, okay. Not that Meet the Feebles made anyone rich... or even had much of a chance to... but, hey, I guess asserting it makes it true.

It's a saying.

But still, the only reason Jackson made those early movies was to cash in on the cult/midnight movie market. That's the truth.

Not a very useful axiom, is it? "The former is a sad attempt at tapping into the sick humor market in order to make one rich and infamous, and the latter is funnier than anything Peter Jackson has ever come up with." Doesn't roll off the tongue like, "A penny earned is a penny saved."

WRONG.

Quote from: DarthChimay on June 12, 2008, 06:20:24 PMI agree, but you left The Producers (the original; no one's funnier than Zero Mostel) off that list. I love mockumentaries.

Apparently, you love mockumentaries that aren't good. ::)

:D

You really don't get it, do you?

Rich and infamous?

No, I shouldn't bother explaining it to you. I lost you at "But".

No, I get it, you and Scott have shitty taste in movies. Enjoy Meet the Spartans. :D

That's what you said to Scott when you found him bare-assed in your sewing bag. "Please, not in my thread! I have to make pillowcases for the orphanage!"

At least the 'insults' have gone from pathetic to surreal, sure it's not close to effective or funny but it's something.

Actually, my last jab at you ("Enjoy Meet the Spartans") broke your brain. If you look to your right, you should see Donald Duck, and to your left, Al Jolson.

Never mind, Isaac. If you're gonna keep going down this David Lynch route, go right ahead.

Isaac, please, not in my thread.

I suppose you could just report him to moderators.

Ignore him.

Isaac, we know you hate Peter Jackson, and that your knowledge of film is far superior to ours. How about you stop trying to drag every thread you touch down into the mud pits? Hmm? Couldya? I hope it's not too much to ask. Thanks!

Scrivener

Isaac, I'm gonna make you an offer.

I'm really torn between these two movies.  I cannot decide which one will get my vote, but one way or the other, I am going to vote.

Here's the offer:  if you lay off the well-worn Peter Jackson bashing until the close of the voting, my vote will go to Young Frankenstein.  Otherwise, the Two Towers gets it.

The matter is in your hands. <Grail knight> Choose wisely. </Grail knight>

Have ScottH kicked out of the thread, and you've got a deal. That way, everybody wins. You don't have to read my praise of Mel Brooks, and everyone else no longer has to listen to ScottH's backwards view of reality ("issac's insults r soooooo patethic").

What? What the hell did Scott do? These "brilliant" quotes are yours, I believe:

WRONG.

Sorry, Isaac. This is your last chance.

Once more, and I'm banning you, end of story, no appeals. All you do is troll, when you aren't praising Frank Zappa or Ralphie Bakashki.

Are you just here to annoy everyone, or are you here to participate in discussion? Because in all honesty, it seems like you're only here to do the former. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and speech, but there is a line that must be drawn. Every thread you touch manages to degenerate into childish name-calling and personal insults. Give me a reason why I shouldn't ban you for trolling and maybe I'll think about it.

That's simply not true. I've never trolled. Ever. On any board. And certainly not on this board. You should be going after Scott, since he's the one who actually trolls in every thread I've seen him post in.

And not once have I mentioned Frank Zappa or Ralph Bakshi in this thread until now.

Well, I can't be held responsible for the childish actions of others, or people who get so wound up about an argument that they report my posts, even though I've done nothing but offer my opinion. Folks, if you get so wound up because someone disagrees with your opinion, the problem is with you, not me.

I have an avatar of Bootsy Collins. And I'm NOT a troll.

You've never trolled? Let's review.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.
...
Frequently, someone who has been labelled a troll by a group may seek to redeem their reputation by discrediting their opponents, for example by claiming that other members of the group are closed-minded, conspirators, or trolls themselves.

Troll, repeatedly.

If you go back and re-read the thread, everything was fine until you decided to employ one of your "witty" remarks. (It's about making pillows for an orphanage, in case you've forgotten already.)

You even acknowledged what you did in the chat.

Isaac› I didn't "go after the owner of the thread", I used one of his posts to make a joke about Scott.
› Isaac quit

So, instead of behaving in a thread meant to discuss two movies, you felt the need to make a completely out-of-the-blue and unnecessary joke about Scott? What's the point?
