After poking around a bit I'm going to say that as long as it doesn't say "Director's Cut" anywhere on it....you should* be ok.

* - completely guessing here and will look into things further; do not take my word as law until further notice.

I went to Netflix and added the 117 minute version "Collectors" edition from the Alien Quadrillogy set, so I should be set either way.

I wonder if Netflix needs me to back up that copy for them in case the DVD gets lost in the mail?   Yeah, I bet they probably do.

I always back up their copy when I get it so that I don't ruin their disc by handling it too much.  When I send their Netflix disc back I always promptly dispose of the copy I made.  I like to go the other mile so that the my fellow Netflix users don't get damaged discs.
