I like those new Dell Red computers...not sure if they are any good though.
My friend also mentioned to stay away from those Dell 'Vostro's'; they wern't all that they were cracked up to be..

I'm thinking about buying this case right now. It's pretty and I realized I have enough parts to build a whole other computer, even though I don't need one.

It is! We had a dishwasher in my house that worked for 15 years. Now since the 3 years that that one has broken we have gone through 3 different dishwashers. They do not make stuff like they used to.

Manufacturing companies have entire departments and specialists dedicated to finding out the best, most expensive way something can break. If the prototypes don't show any signs of having any weaknesses, they literally hold board meetings to figure out how they can give the product some so it'll be a sure thing that the commercial product WILL break at some point. I sincerely wish I was joking about this.

OK.. Note to Self: Do NOT Buy Anything more from PartsPC.com!

I ordered 2 - 1 gig memory sticks back on Saturday, paid for expidited service & USPS Priority Mail (2-3 days) and the Dumbasses just now processed my order this afternoon (Wednesday) to be shipped out of their warehouse on the west coast?! WTF ???

Oh I don't doubt it...we finally gave up and have resorted to yelling in the phone demanding wheel replacements for the dishwasher drawers because the hot water melts the plastic wheels and makes them break. We have gone through I think 4 different drawers, and who knows how many wheels. My dad is a really nice guy, but he is good at yelling at people (he never means it when he is yelling though, its weird, you'd think people would pick up that he is holding back laughter and apologies).

Pak-Man

So as some of you know, me and Tyrant have started the project of watching every MST3K. This has involved me burning them to DVD so we can watch them from the comfort of our couch.
Suddenly, my computer has decided it doesn't want to encode DVD files. I've been using DVD flick for forever to make DVDs and it's never given me an ounce of trouble, but now it locks my entire system up during the encoding process. So I decided to try a different burning program. Same thing. It starts encoding, then locks up completely. I'm getting tired of having to reboot my computer every time this happens. Anyone know any tricks? If I just want a no-frills DVD where I pop it in and watch it, is there a way to bypass the encoding alltogether?

RVR II

Have you tried using DVD Shrink 3.2?
That's what I use 1st to break the episode down to its VTS files, and then use Nero 6 or 7 to reburn

Tyrant

Naw, it's still locking up. Pak's tried about 3 or 4 different programs now (including Nero, I think). I thought maybe it had something to do with the file format we download it in, and thought maybe converting it to another file type to encode might solve the issue, but now his PC is locking up just during the converting process. I also had him try turning off all the junk that runs off the system tray other than essentials and it's still locking up.

The last thing he was able to burn with no complications was the Drugs short with no previous issues, so this has been going on only recently.

RVR II

Hmm.. Sounds like a Definite conflict or hardware issue somewhere..
I had a similar issue with a sound driver when I updated the BIOS of one of my computers and had to completely uninstall the sound driver and reload it; another time was an Antivirus conflict, and again, had to completely uninstall & reinstall, and even a memory conflict, and also a failing power supply can freeze it up. So it could be anything :-\

Tyrant

Well, one thing we've not tried yet is burning something other than these episodes (like another short or something). If it works, then it indicates something is wrong with the files somewhere.

It could also be because I've been hanging around this computer too much with my evil jinx powers.
