QuoteSimilar to last year, these spoof comedies seem to be sneaking up on me. I knew that Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the duo behind "Meet the Spartans," "Epic Movie" and "Date Movie," have been working on their latest masterpiece, but I didn't realize that it was so close to appearing in theaters.

To get you warmed up, we have the official poster for the now titled "Disaster Movie," featuring a shot of the Statue of Liberty being swallowed by a wave. It's a good thing the statue has its snorkeling gear. The tagline states: "Al Gore was Right."

"Disaster Movie" stars such Hollywood talent as Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian. It is scheduled to hit theaters on August 29th.

"Talent" is the word they went with?  I'd go with Human Flesh Parades.

It's called 'Climate Change'... :o

RiffTrax should counter-program this drivel by putting out a RiffTrax of The Towering Inferno (actually, any of those Irwin Allen "disaster" pics would be awesome).

You DO realize that you've just given a nightclub somewhere a name for their "goth" night, right?

I think this time Abrahams, Zucker and Zucker need to sue...claim that this is a rip-off of "That's Armageddon!" from KFM.

As long as there are stupid idiots who will see anything regardless of quality, these movies will continue to exist.
Being a genocidal maniac is not one of my turn ons.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

I'd be more in favour of The Poseidon Adventure but yeah I'd like to see an IA riff.

The Day After Tomorrow would be cool, or Poseidon

Sheik Yerbouti

This can only lead to one thing.  Next year we're going to see 'Parody Movie' and it will be a parody of all these awful parody movies. Then the universe will collapse in on itself.

Original, Remake or both?

Need I remind you only one has Shelley Winters in it swimming underwater.

I'd forgotten there even was a remake, which actually I've still not got around to watching.

There's three actually.  The Shelley Winters one, the ridiculous big budget one, and the other one has a massive dose of Guttenberg.

I'm taking it the Guttenberg version was a T.V. movie?

Yes.  And it had even less to do with the original than the other remake.  It was basically Titanic.
