I think I'm going to start playing jazz again. Back around the end of 2001 I was attending college during the day time, practicing with my rock &/or roll band every night and then working a graveyard shift as freight crew at an Albertson's. I'd have very little time to take naps or sometimes stay up for three days straight running off of coffee, hearing voices, seeing things out  the corner of my eye, and eventually passing out wherever I sat down or laid my head for a second. I'd started passing out in my chair during rehearsal for our University jazz band and have either the director or one of the saxophonists next to me wake me up. Playing in the jazz band was one of the only reason's I was still attending the university, then I show up one day to see a replacement in my seat. So I quit school and kept their tenor sax & baritone sax for about 8 months until I bought myself a new tenor on the road. I haven't played my tenor sax since my rock &/or roll band broke up in 2005. I've been missing playing a lot more lately and after watching Ken Burns documentary Jazz I think I'm gonna start playing again.

What kind of Jazz?
The good kind.  ;) I'll probably have to start practicing with the standards. I'll probably just pop in some Thelonious Monk albums and what-not and play along and see how much I've forgotten.

Tripe

Oh this I have to hear, in fact we all do.

Well, it looks as if not playing for four years has completely sapped my brain of the skill of translating what my brain is thinking to play and transferring it out my saxophone. Damn it, I'm hoping after a few weeks/months of playing again my musician's amnesia will go away.

Hmm...I don't know what to think about this.

When I was around 12 years old...this creepy guy that nobody really liked became friends with me. He was a weird guy and the way he acted was why nobody really liked him, but because I was nice to him, he thought of me as a friend. I wasn't going to burst his bubble since he isn't a bad guy.

Well one time we were camping as a boy scout group, it was a scout camp where you earn as many merit badges as you can for a week. This guy...would not leave me alone for a week, he literally followed me around for a week constantly talking to me, keeping me from finishing the merit badges I NEEDED to complete. Again, I wasn't about to burst this guys bubble...he was a nice guy, and I knew I was probably his only friend. And I enjoyed his company...but not 24/7.

But I still didn't say anything, I just had seen the hurt he has gotten from other people finally getting mad at him and telling him off...it wasn't in me, it took one of my other friends getting mad that he was taking up all my time to get him to stop following me 24/7.

Today...I found out he changed his name from Tyler to Jacob...my name is Jacob. Coincidence? I really really hope so. I had heard stories from a guy I know that his family actually had to move away from this tyler/jacob guy to get away from him, but then him and his mom moved next door to them. I always just thought it was a lie...cuz that guy is a jerk, but, I just hope, he liked the name Jacob. So yeah...I don't know what to think about this.

Sorta in the same vein kinda: a few years back I remembered that one time when I was around 9 years , I totally was lured into some guy's house with the old I know your sister wanna read some comic books inside my dimly lit house routine.  I'm about 99.99998% certain nothing untoward happened to my ass and/or mouth but my wife makes fun of me for it now.

I still have those comics somewhere.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

Fortis, when you say "guy" do you mean somebody significantly older than you or are you just talking about a friendless kid?

Junkyard

Why haven't we heard of any celebrities stalking paprazzi with cameras? If this isn't happening yet, it should.

Tripe

There was someone who used to do that, but the name escapes me.,

Some of the more creative ones should start publishing a Paps: They're Just Like Us newsletter.

Friendless kid...friendless for a reason, this guy was crazy. But I don't know, I knew he thought his life sucked so I was nice to him...and now this. I'm really hoping its nothing, and that perhaps there is another Jacob he might be stalking...Jacob is a very common name so... :speechless:

Tripe

Oh no, I do think his current behaviour sounds creepy but if he'd been an older bloke it would have been all the more so.
