I still don't understand how the Theory of Evolution kills God.  It does make Bible literalists look like morons, but there isn't anything that eliminates the hand of God in the theory.

True. A person can still believe in God, while recognizing that the Bible is horseshit.

This "documentary" looks like a load of dogshite.

Damn.  And I really like Ben Stein, too. :(

I'm in the same boat. I'm VERY disappointed in Ben Stein for his involvement in this. The irony is, if this were a Michael Moore film, where the same kinds of dishonest filmmaking techniques are regularly employed, Stein would be among the first to (rightly) criticize it.

Of course, by the same token, many of the reviewers who have (again, rightly) excoriated Expelled for its fundamental dishonesty would line up to lick Moore's bunghole clean, if given the opportunity.

Thanks for making me think of Michael Moore's bunghole.

So it turns out this cool video

Is from the expelled crew like I expected, probably the coolest thing to come out of it all.

Here was the reveal.

Ben Stein is awesome, and even though I'm a Pagan, I want to see this.  However, he's not quite as attractive as Bill Corbett. :deadhorse:

This sounds like a parody of An Inconvenient Truth, but it isn't is it?

You're implying that An Inconvenient Truth is to be taken seriously.  :)

I knew you'd be around.

Sorry. My schedule has been crazy lately.

I have a theory that our world is a dream world being read into existence by a young boy and that as long as he reads and imagines us and eventually names a Childlike Empress, everything should be just fine.  I have mountains of scientific evidence of this, whereas my opponents (ID and Evolution) have meager hillocks of evidence.  I also have a lab coat.  Where's my public education tax money?  [/sarcasm]

Creationists apparently don't realize that as soon as you hold their non-scientific ideas on the same level as a testable, scientific theory, you open the floodgates for anyone else who has a crack-pot, non-scientific idea.  They deserve equal time and money and then let the kids decide, right?  If they had it their way, we could simply vote our solar system to being geocentric or pi to be 22/7.  Someone should tell them that's not how science works.

If you say that intelligent design is different than creationism, I'll tell you that He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named isn't really Voldemort.

Tripe

Ah but the thing is Creationsits Don't want their moronic ideas held to the same standard, that want it decalred science without going through the process that would earn it the right to be so called.

There's one thing this thread does prove... the pure evil power of Ben Stein to make people think.

Until this movie came out I was unaware that among Ben Stein's abilities was to sound like a moron.  Or maybe his faith means he's just Stupid for God.
And I'm worse than Hitler.

J-Proof

You guys are inadvertently proving Stein's overall objective that the freedom to believe what we want is significantly ridiculed in today's society. But whatev'.... call me a moron for believing what Stein believes

That's not at all what he's saying. He's saying that "big science" (whoever that is) is making people lose jobs for their beliefs. Which is absolutely not true. There are plenty of scientists who are believers, but they weren't included in the docu because they would "confuse people."

This isn't about just believing what you want - this (the movie) is a lie wrapped up in propaganda.

Do you believe in ID/Creationism? Do you expect it to be accepted without peer review and its proponent be given money to teach it as science? If that is the case then unfortunately you are a moron.

But I rather fancy that's not the case, we've said time and time again this isn't about belief but about what is and what is not scientifically valid, that is not a question of either theology or opinion.
