Do I sound like I'm going to cry (down on my sig line if you need a refresher :))? He doesn't sound all that different to me.

I rather like this one:

Hmm...the name sounds familiar.  Any relation to Tendafoot?

;D
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Another point that has come up, I have seen quite a few posts where people have come away with the false impression that Richard Dawkins believes aliens created life on this planet.

Which is close enough for me to link to this

QuoteThe 66-year-old British cosmologist, who suffers from ALS and must speak through a mechanical device, believes "if the human race is to continue for another million years, we will have to boldly go where no one has gone before."

Tch! Silly cosmologists and their split infinitives! ;)

There's one thing this thread does prove... the pure evil power of Ben Stein to make people think.

Tripe

Which gives credence to my "refined joke" idea but I'm still leaning toward it not being one.

bratpop

Well, it can't be a joke because Ben Stein isn't funny. He just has a funny voice.

I think he's an asshole.  Is that what you meant?

This "documentary" looks like a load of dogshite.

Damn.  And I really like Ben Stein, too. :(

I'm in the same boat. I'm VERY disappointed in Ben Stein for his involvement in this. The irony is, if this were a Michael Moore film, where the same kinds of dishonest filmmaking techniques are regularly employed, Stein would be among the first to (rightly) criticize it.

Of course, by the same token, many of the reviewers who have (again, rightly) excoriated Expelled for its fundamental dishonesty would line up to lick Moore's bunghole clean, if given the opportunity.

The thing the creationist don't understand (and Greg's video did a great job at this) is that Intelligent design is not a Scientific theory. It is an opinion. What is taught in schools is not just the opinion of some whack job scientists it is theory that has been tested with hard evidence.

The other thing that bothers me about teaching Intelligent design (other than the fact that it is an opinion) is that there is a separation between church and state for a reason, you open up a whole can of manure when you start discussing this in school. So who's God was it that created it all? A Christian god?

You look at the biggest proponents for ID and they are all MOSTLY Christian. I have a major problem with this not only because they feel like they are persecuted because ID isn't taught (lots of real religious persecution going on in the real world, wanna take a stand against that go to a country where Christians are being killed for being Christian don't give me this b.s. that not teaching ID is persecution) but also the fact that America is not made up of ONLY Christians yet most of them seem to think this.

Sorry if this has already been posted...

We didn't evolve from monkeys, we have a common ancestor. There is a world of difference.

Yeah, this is what I was getting at. Incredibly common misconception based on ignorance.
Darn.. And all this time..

I used to use that graphic all the time in Rocky Horror programs to pimp our cast's web site.

This sounds like a parody of An Inconvenient Truth, but it isn't is it?

You're implying that An Inconvenient Truth is to be taken seriously.  :)

QuoteGay "rights."

Oh, fun.

Yeah, that was my reaction as well.

That's Bozell for you. Any points he gets for exposing the pretty clear bias in mainstream media are wiped out by the fact that, culturally, he's a moron.
