What about Sphere?

That's a possibility. As I remember, it didn't do that well. And it start Samuel L. Jackson.

Well of course I register just too late to join in this game (no fair, i was just watching the Rifftrax for The Grudge, too!), but I do have a guess if anyone's interested...

I know we won't know until it's posted on the site, but maybe it's Sphere. 1998, PG-13, starring Samuel L. Jackson (who was also in Star Wars Episode I), Sci-Fi based on a book by Michael Chriton, takes place on Earth, made less than half it was made for...

I dunno'. Just a newb considering options... Feel free to cuss me out at this point >.>;

It can't be sphere, if, according to one of the mods, it is set in the future. I believe Sphere was set in present day.

Sphere is close. Samuel L. Jackson (star wars), based on a book, sci fi, 1998. Who/what was the antagonist?

And how exactly is Sphere a better rifftrax than Rudolph and Frosty??

Think you got it Mr. Torso. Sphere was a sci-fi box-office flop, stared Samuel Jackson... Never seen it. Is it a human antagonist and is it set on earth?

Ancient Alien Child From the Future or something.  Probably not it.

Wasn't it Dustin Hofmann with the bends or something??

Well, it was bound to happen some time.  Well done everyone who guessed a random movie right off the bat and to anyone so desperate to get an answer in that they completely went against clues that had already been established!

What's up with the attitude? Maybe if a RiffTrax admin didn't imply it was going to be a Christmas movie, I wouldn't have guessed the one we all voted for on the frontpage.

Hey, it IS kind of stupid to just start guessing movie titles right away.

Yes, and yet, it's happening more and more lately.

All the clues were there. For whatever reason, torgosPizza decided to misled us by replying in the "What's the Christmas RiffTrax" thread with a link to this post. Combine that with the frontpage poll and it was a rather educated guess.

In the end, all his comment did was piss off a frequent customer. That's what seems stupid to me.

And technically, the human characters were the Antagonists...

But I won't say more, 'cause that'd be a spoiler!!!   ;D

The ship's from the future (and human) but the Sphere itself is of unknown origin, isn't it?

Remember - the point of the game is not to guess immediately what the next movie is, no matter what the polls say (especially if it's not an Official RiffTrax Poll). The point of 20 questions is to narrow down your choices until you're sure you know the answer - regardless of whether you think it's the poll movie or not.

So, in honor of you, the RiffTrax Roundtable, we're giving you ONE MORE QUESTION.

Debate with each other over what you think it could be. Do your research first and put plenty of thought into it, and make sure your answer fits all of the clues.

You may wish to elect someone as the official "answer giver" and make sure you notify us OFFICIALLY that it is your answer. Something like:

"Our Final Question: is it...?"  or something similar (you decide) will do.

Go!

What about Sphere?

I like that guess.  And just for fun, let's take a closer look at the idiocy:

Asking "is it a romance" AFTER we knew it was sci-fi.

After we knew it was made in the 90's, asking if it was Batttlefield Earth (2000) and Minority Report (2002).

After we knew it was rated PG-13, asking if it was Johnny Mnemonic (R), Coneheads (PG), and 12 Monkeys (R).

6 questions flushed down the crapper.
