Ok, so did anyone watch the end scene and see anything in the water? I'd heard about it and looked for it but saw nothing but boats.

Yup, I went to see it a 2nd time (the first time was free) and it turns out something falls in the water a ways out from shore. From what I read it's supposed to be a Russian satellite.
In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice, they aren't.

Confirmed.  Right-most quarter of the screen, in case you see the movie again and want to know where to look.  Not a big splash:  Abrams and company were being subtle ... and hey, it's nice to know someone in Hollywood can be subtle.

So this means that the satellite will

No, I'm guessing this happens in one of the parts that goes back to earlier that day at Coney Island so it would have been what woke the original monster.

As much as I liked the movie I don't think I need a $100 replica of the monster.

Maybe the one pictured was a Gene Simmons fan.

bratpop

Really, that is one of the dumber monsters I've seen. I'm glad I didn't go to the movie. I liked about 90% of the fan concept drawings more than that. Does that look like a sea creature? Well, only insofar as many deep sea creatures are incredibly goofing looking. It looks like a bat with its wings ripped off.

Quicksilver

The saving grace is you dont ever really see the whole monster in the movie, I agree it's just silly seeing it sit there. Like I said before, less is more, they should have never made that replica.

Okay, I still don't get the "it's alive" if the "it" in reference is not even in the dictionary, let alone something most people would presume to not be alive.

Also... I haven't seen a DVD use an actual movie poster in about 15 years now. And that number is not accurate. Where's my bad photoshop collage with big movie star head on it? Oh, right. Cloverfield monster head, then? Clooney style? And some people running at the bottom?
