Doctor Who?

I can't get past the copyprotection on the DvD and there where at least three versions on VHS each with it's own runtime.

I am trying to get a hold of them all so I can try them out and let you know.

But if someone already knows could you please post a picture of the the box?

Thank you.

I have the original full screen VHS version from back in the day and it worked just fine. If you want to look up this exact version on either Half.com or Amazon, the UPC is 096898140935.

Thanks for the info MSTJedi, I was wondering if my VHS copy would work. I used the DVD the first time and haven't had time to try the tape yet.

What exactly do you mean by this?
There are lots aways around the copy protection on DVD's.

I couldn't find a nearby library with the JP dvd so I had to get the VHS (why buy when you can rent for free? ;)).  I got the letterboxed (aka widescreen) VHS edition.  It didn't work at all.  I got a minute into it and it was just so far off.

Ironically, I wound up renting the full screen dvd version.

Ever since I started getting DVDs that were in widescreen, I've come to prefer that format. So now when I go back to one of my full screen VHS tapes, it kinda annoys me. I feel like I'm missing something. And this is despite the fact that I still don't have a widescreen/HD TV.

Well my Computer's DvD drive stopped working so I can't make a new disc with the Rifftrack.

You can find DVD burners for around $30 if you look online. Of course, that's assuming you know how to replace such computer parts.

Well now as i am looking at it I think my whole computer is messing up.

I have limited funds at the moment so until I know for sure I am not sending good money after bad,it's cheaper to get the VHS.

You see every time i burn a DvD when I put that disc in a player the whole disc acts like it is badly scratched and it stops and starts playing randomly.

I have cleaned the lens i don't know how many times and run programs to try and fix it,but nothing works.

But other thing have been going wrong on the computer too(It's an old Windows 2000 PC)so i am not sure where the problem is,all i know is that I cann't copy Copyprotected DvDs.

Oddly my computer still plays DvDs fine,it just can't write them.

My first DVD burner did that. It wouldn't burn discs, but it'd play them. Funny enough, it did about a month AFTER the year warranty expired. And it was a Sony, for crying out loud. So the next time around I got a no-name OEM drive for $65 (a deal at the time) and it's been doing fine since (well over a year).

Assuming the drive is still OK it sounds like a buffering problem, if your hard drive has become fragmented it may be taking too long to find the data to feed the burner, so it keeps running out of data and stops.  If you can, try lowering the rate to the slowest setting to test it, or defrag the hard drive.

I could be the burner, if it's been used a lot the laser could be weak, but doubt it would start and stop if that were the problem, it would just chug along thinking it was burning when it wasn't...

Doctor Who?

Yeah I used to have a sony Burner but it broke down about a week after the warranty expired, the one I have now is a no name that I have had since then I have had it about three years.

I tried defraging my hard drive before each burn but it has not helped.

Next time i have cash i will try getting a new drive.

Thanks for you help.

Doctor Who?

You want to know the oddest thing?

It seems to write to CDs just fine.

My brain is in knots.
