They do kinda hint at it in the opening introduction.

"By the way, if you didn't hear the intro, and you picked up this thing on the internet somehow we can understand how that can happen. We'd appreciate it if you dropped by Rifftrax and there's a donate button on the front page and you just it that and do what ever feels right for you."

... Directly from the mouth of Mike, that is about as an official response that you are likely to get. But posting a link on the forum would be a big no no.

Sorry, kinda new. What is your "trading  policy"? I read the FAQ on the main site, and then I searched the forums, but didn't come up with anything.

I know we can donate if we "forgot" to pay. Anything besides that?

I think it's safe to say they don't want anyone trading any of the Rifftrax mp3 files but the video file for the Star Wars Holiday Special is fair game since you can't buy it anywhere.
But how do they feel about making a single synchronized DVD or video file and trading that? Are we encouraged to pay and then share as we please with others who paid? Or are we encouraged not to trade at all? Is there some sort of official policy I can read, or is this just an unspoken mutual understanding between the administrators/copyright owners and the users/customers?

It seems like it would be fair for two people who both paid for the same movie and both paid for the same Rifftrax to get together and make a synced DVD for each other. I could see how that might become a slippery slope, though. I'm not trying to argue, just asking for clarification. Thanks in advance.

Well doing that would in fact not lose Rifftrax any money as long as it's between people who have all paid for their own Riff, but the problem is how can you really be sure that the person you're sending your dvd to is being honest about buying it?

Our policy is we don't want you to put our stuff up on sites for people to grab for free.  That's what I was getting at.

Will it happen regardless of whether we want it to or not?  Yes.  But if you're doing it to "help spread the word", or to "make it more convenient for people who bought them already", we'd prefer it if you didn't.

That's two Golden Girls down, quick someone name some Betty White films!

Lake Placid.  A giant crocodile movie that would actually be a reasonable subject for a Rifftrax.

WARNING:  Betty White swears like a wounded Marine.  A bit of a shift in gears from The Golden Girls.
And then you guys could round everything off with Estelle Getty in "Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot".
Before the guys do that, if they're gonna do an Estelle Getty flick, I've been praying for a Mannequin riff since the MST days.  SWITCHHEERRRRR!

I think Mike is just acknowledging that since the subject of this Rifftrax is not a commercial release, he can't very well complain to sites that distribute it with his commentary added.  It's pretty clear that the Rifftrax folks still very much disapprove of the practice.

Also: This is the funniest one yet.  I laughed harder at it than at any previous release.

Also also: The front page still says that this rifftrax is "Coming Soon!"  D'oh!

I thought I was Dale.

I can't!  I can't!  Why is explorer so stupid?

(collapses sobbing)

(cough, sniff)

I'm better now.  Sorry.

Disembodio was almost completely absent in this. We paused about halfway through and were a little off restarting. We kept waiting for the syncs that seemed to never come. Some movies he's talking every few minutes. I read on another forum he only chimed in four times through the whole special. Is that right? I also remember them being really short phrases.

But it was one of the best riffs so far, I loved it.

I'd be more than willing to help seed the DVD on myspleen and I've got 6 invites to pass out to rifftrax fans if needed
Are you talking about the compatible dvd that's circulating around now? Let me know if you toss that up on myspleen I'd be more than happy to download and seed the hell out of it, I know they have at least two other version on there but don't think they have the commercials. I also have invites to that site preferably to people I know of on the forums. Sorry new people and people I don't know, nothing personal.

I'm talking about the best one that gets out that I can get my hands on, though preferably not the google transfer honestly....  So whether Isaac does it or I can get a copy from someone else I'll do it....  or if you want to upload yours go ahead too and I'll just download and help seed after...... Anyway, I don't have anything right now

But yeah, I checked the times of both copies on there and they're both about 20 minutes shy so likely no commercials... but the one is apparently the definitive version from possibly a stolen master if you'd want to edit in commercials around that if it's possibly better than yours like Isaac was talking about doing

Pyro,

I'm getting that (alleged master tape) version as we speak.  I'm definitely planning on editing it together with the commercials.  Shouldn't be too difficult as long as my computer cooperates.  Now I'm just waiting for the DVD of the Lake Video version to arrive in the mail and I can get started.  When I'm done, I can upload it to a shared file on my Xdrive, and send it to whoever would like it.  From there, anyone with the means can put it on MySpleen or wherever else they'd like.  I'll post in the SWHS forum when it's all done.

Sounds good.  If no one else does I'll upload it to myspleen and pass out invites at that point
