Tony Farms AKA Puma Man

Man, I just saw about five minutes.

I can't even IMAGINE the amount of cocaine that was involved with the writing and acting.

Keep spreading the word RVR.  It's the easiest solution I have found for this.  Anyone with a DVD burner should be able to enjoy this.

This had to be tough to write for with the 10 minutes of grunting to open this special.

Not A Problem..
After Stressing about this for 5 hours last night, I woke up this morning just to find your post because I couldn't remember the name..
Once I found it and did a bit of research, I took the gamble.
Sure Enough, it cracked it, and even burned it for me ready to play in my DVD players (I've got 4 of them and it played in All 4)
I've already ran it through my Pinnacle program with No Problems, and just await the RiffTrax release!

Thanks Again for posting this Very Handy Program!

I thunk you might be off a tad in scale. Maybe more along these lines:

Yarg

Except that you can't get it legally, you can't get it on DVD, you can't use the Rifftrax Player or even Sharecrow, you have to watch it on your computer, and there's no quarantee how long it will be "available." Other than that, exactly the same.

I think the best way to get your point across to everyone at Rifftrax that you are unhappy about the choice of the movie is to post a picture of you crying.

Pak-Man

I would concede that, on the Rifftrax side of things, it's no different. They sync up an audio file, Mike makes it funny, they make it available. The difference is in what we, the Consumer, have to do to get it.

As far as availability, I wouldn't worry too much. Even if Google Video decides to take it down (And they've had it up for over half a year at least now) there are enough Riffaholics on these boards that have already procured the necessary file that I don't think it's going anywhere.

As far as getting it on DVD, it's a matter of making one for yourself, and if you don't want to, there've been several offers to distribute the needed DVD around these forums. No problems there.

And although it won't work in Sharecrow, who knows what will happen with the Rifftrax Player in future updates. I won't pretend to know it's a certainty, but it wouldn't surprise me if they updated it to be able to play MP4 files and sync up your Rifftrax for you.

As far as the legalities, this was a TV special that aired on TV nigh on 30 years ago. It has never been released on home video. It has never been released on DVD. Until it DOES get a release (Probably a pretty chilly day in hades), it's not costing anyone any money.  The files, like it or not, is out there, and it's out there on GOOGLE, of all places, which likes to chomp down as soon as anyone has any issues with their material showing up on any kind of video service. This tells me Lucas doesn't really care all that much. He wrote the Christmas special a long time ago, and he's probably written it off as a loss since then. It's not like they're making us sniff around torrent sites, or steal unreleased material.

And if you STILL don't like it, relax and wait for the next one. I don't see this as becoming a regular thing. :^)

QuoteHe wrote the Christmas special a long time ago,

He actually didn't write it-- he only gave a little bit of guidance in the beginning, as he was knee-deep in Empire, etc.  I don't think his name is even on the forward credits, not that I can blame him.
