Chaos

I really doubt that the movie is going to be ANY Lucas product. The ones available on DVD are not "rare," and the rest... are not available on DVD (Star Wars Holiday Specila, Howard the Duck). Also, keep in mind that CT has purchased the licence to these 12 films, similar to how Legend Films owns the rights to produce the DVDs of the various movies they've colourized. There's no way in hell that Lucas is going to give up ANY rights to his material.

Whatever it is that Joel's going to be showing at ILM, it's got nothing to do with Lucas, it's just some old sci-fi stinker. It's a mystery to me why he's doing a special show for Lucas's people, but it's not because it's a movie that they own. That much is for sure.

Well the official site now says it will be up at starwars.com so I would think they would have to be getting something from it. It's gotta be tied together with Lucas somehow.

But even Shatner has moved beyond Star Trek. SHATNER!

QuoteMore American Graffitti?
That would be pretty awesome. I seriously doubt it of course. But it would be awesome.

I'm thinking the most likely candidate is the original Flash Gordon serials. Or not. It would be the cheapest b-movie with any Star Wars relation. Apart from some bad 80s sci-fi movie or something ILM worked on. Batteries Not Included?

Time Runner?

Battle of the Network Stars?

...

Someone mentioned that people have been talking about a showing of Raiders Of The Lost Ark: The Adaptation. Could just be buzz, since i really doubt that would ever be released on DVD in any sort of officially sanctioned manner... even if it were getting riffed.

Ok that's about the single coolest guess I have seen so far.

And what is this, the version where the guns are all replaced by walkie talkies and Stan and Kyle are tied up to a pole while Spielberg screens the redone movie?

During the 80's some teens spent like 7 years filming a shot for shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark, it was forgotten about for years but was recently dug up and got screened a bit.

Nope... not really. Sure he's done other things, but he's by no means moved beyond it. He just came out with a new Star Trek novel, and is currently very vocal about his dissapointment in not being cast in the upcoming Trek movie.

But on the subject at hand, I am a bit concerned about Trace's heart really being in it after what he said in the quoted interview. Still, I wish Joel and company the best of success.

People change their minds... and he did say that "without the character it didn't feel right", so that tells me that Cinematic Titanic has characters  :)

From another interview posted recently.

QuoteQ32: Mike Nelson has been recording some very funny commentary tracks for DVD, such as the one he did for "Reefer Madness". Have you ever considered doing commentary tracks as well?

A32: I hadn't really. Josh, Joel and I did a mini commentary on a thing a while back. It was weird being old men and jumping back 20 years to riff on something. Rather uncomfortable. I think I'd prefer to be a maker, rather than a mocker. I'm done with riffing on bad movies. Unless, of course, it pays well.

Uh, technically you didn't say your peace, you said your piece.  That is, unless you just signed a treaty of some kind with Joel I'm unaware of.  ;)

Huzzah for other grammar nazis!

Look, irregardless of how you are orientated, it is a mute point. Supposably, there's no need to renumerate. ;)

Shatner did Star Trek, left, did TJ Hooker, and then went back to Star Trek with all the movies, and now he's done... for now anyway.

EDItT:  I didn't see Sandstorm's post above.  Helps my point anyway.

What's with Joel spelling theater "Theatre"?

I know that's how they spelled it in the KTMA pilot, but they changed it quickly afterwards and stuck with "Theater" until the end (unless, of course, you count the misspelling in the SciFi ads for the final episode).

Has it been that long for you, Joel?

Since it's the older spelling, and it was hammered into my head when I was a theatre performance major, I can say that I usually end up typing it that way and not thinking of it.  Now and then I'll go through what I typed and put it in the "er" spelling if I think whoever's reading it will be confused, but a lot of time I don't think of it.  Joel probably did the same.

Hey guys, I looked up ILM films on Wiki and on there list of upcoming movies they had Jurassic Park 4 and something simply titled Star Wars (television)?
Every day of my life I find the wisest and best to fix our attention on the Good and the Beautiful. If you just take the time to look at it.

Tripe

Yes, Lucas wants to do stories set in the Star Wars universe for TV only featuring characters we've not met before and events that are taking place at the same time as the events in the film but not really connected to them.

At least that's what he was saying a few months ago.
