Sooo... For  "all intensive purposes,"  :scared:
A 'Piece of Ass' and an 'Ass at Peace' would be Grammatically Correct :P

Uh, technically you didn't say your peace, you said your piece.  That is, unless you just signed a treaty of some kind with Joel I'm unaware of.  ;)

Actually I believe that he was correct in saying "peace." I thought the expression was used to dictate that a person had finished expressing themselves in an environment of possible apprehension or conflict.  Hence it would be his "peace"ful and non-argumentative statements in a situation where such words are needed.

AmandaGal is correct.  It's "piece" not "peace".

I've spoken the phrase outloud quite a bit. Never had to write/type it out. Wasn't sure which way it went, took a stab in the dark, turns out I was wrong. My bad.

Nice attempt at a Save YooHoo, thanks for lookin' out for me. You're actually not too far off. It wasn't my attempt to "re-hash old flame wars". Just holding out hope that RiffTrax and CT will be cool enough for each other to get some professional collaborating done.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled forum topic, already in progress.

Well, irregardless, for all intensive purposes we know what he/she/it/phe means.  Isn't that the ultimate point of language:  to communicate.

The fury at irregular language is unbearable  :grr:

If anyone on here ever says "all intensive purposes," I'll have to hunt you down and kill you.

Edited to add: If you said "I want to say my peace" in an argument such as this, it's an oxymoron.  How can you speak an opposing opinion in a debate and it be peace? You are not speaking "peace" unless you're saying, "dude, here's an olive branch. Why can't we all just get along."   "Speaking" your opinion is breaking the peace.

If you say your piece, then hold your peace on the debate, that is plausible ;)

Well like I said he was stating his ideas in a potential place of conflict but didn't do so to take a side, merely to suggest a posssible cooperation on the parts of CT and Rifftrax.  So while this thread isn't as aggressive as the bots are back thread he still offered a compromise hence it was his "peace."  Also I always thought "said my peace" worked liked "I mean no disrespect..." in which you could say contrasting things but without trying to fuel the fire of debate.

Nevertheless it seems that I have been proven wrong by and while I generally try to make sure I'm speaking correctly, I think I'll continue using and thinking "said my peace" instead of "said my piece."  It just seems better to me.  Also to me it's "I'm going to give him a piece of my mind" "Speak now or forever hold your peace"  and "I'd like a piece of cake"

If that gives you peace of mind, I say go for it.    ;)

"Saying your peace" is oxymoronic. "Holding your peace" is the same as "keeping the peace" it's not that the peace is an object per se but rather by not speaking the peace/quiet is maintained.

More "details" are to be released on Starwars.com (hmm is that a hint?) this Saturday! Hopefully that includes the announcement of their first "film," as Joel ironically calls it.

SaucyRossy

Joel's new post is hilarious.....I am really happy that he and the rest of the crew is back. I am all giddy.!!

Hey its a possibility, but i do like this forum a lot.

Also i just checked out the video from the new mst3k website, and i really didnt like it at all, i just wasn't that funny to me, anyone feel the same?

Tripe

I think that's the general consensus.

BathTub

What stands out to me the the repetition of 'Original', yes technically Josh was Tom first, but honestly, most people are much more likely to go "Josh who?" or "Wait, wasn't Kevin 'Tom Servo'?" This isn't even close to a Mike vs Joel or Bill vs Trace thing. The guy who left after the first season (2 if you include the KTMA stuff) compared with the guy who did it for the other 9 seasons, the Movie, and all the other specials and stuff that were done.

Will the Real Tom Servo please stand up.  ;)

Bairman

Yeah... it's like saying Pete Best was the drummer for The Beatles.  He was... but...

SaucyRossy

Yeah I think Kevin is the real Tom Servo.....but thats just me.
