C'mon, people, let's leave the old Mike vs. Joel flame wars behind us.  There's no need to bring them back to life.

From what Joel insinuates, I think he will be taking the concept back to its low-budget MST3K roots, i.e. with old, forgotten B-movies that are probably not in distribution and are thus easy and cheap to license.  He says of the first film that "it's very rare, it's very strange, and it's of questionable quality."

Uh, technically you didn't say your peace, you said your piece.  That is, unless you just signed a treaty of some kind with Joel I'm unaware of.  ;)

Mike and Bill and Kevin are not fakes.

But they're not original cast members.  Try not to take what Joel states on his webpage out of context.

I consider Joel and "the original cast members" to be like Star Trek TOS
And Mike and the whole Sci Fi era to be like Star Trek TNG

Not only was Mike/TNG around longer than Joel/TOS,.... Mike/TNG was/ is my genaration.

Joel/TOS will still hold a specal place in my heart.
only Joel/TOS could have pulled off a Patrick Swazey Christmas
If Mike/TNG tried to do it it wouldn't be the same.
Every day of my life I find the wisest and best to fix our attention on the Good and the Beautiful. If you just take the time to look at it.

From a technical standpoint Joel did more MST3k episodes than Mike did, as a host anyway.

Actually I believe that he was correct in saying "peace." I thought the expression was used to dictate that a person had finished expressing themselves in an environment of possible apprehension or conflict.  Hence it would be his "peace"ful and non-argumentative statements in a situation where such words are needed.  That seems to make sense here as they are many people with differing opinions on how CT could go and so he was added his input while attempting to avoid debate.
I can see how "piece" might work as that it was his piece to the conversation and input however I'm always found "peace" to be more logical, IMO.

There, now I've said my peace too.  :D

Piece is the original usage.  I'm at work so my of Internet is blocked for the most part so I can't find a source (it lets me on rifftrax but dictionary.com is blocked as educational), but I'm sure I am correct.  It was originally used because the term "piece" was used to describe a short speech or text.   You can hold your peace on a subject, but you can't "speak" your peace.  Holding your peace would be what Yoohoo alluded too.

It's becoming more common to use "peace."  I guess since it is a colloquialism and since English is a living language that is forever evolving, "peace" is probably not technically incorrect.  I still say it's incorrect.

If anyone on here ever says "all intensive purposes," I'll have to hunt you down and kill you.

Edited to add: If you said "I want to say my peace" in an argument such as this, it's an oxymoron.  How can you speak an opposing opinion in a debate and it be peace? You are not speaking "peace" unless you're saying, "dude, here's an olive branch. Why can't we all just get along."   "Speaking" your opinion is breaking the peace.

If you say your piece, then hold your peace on the debate, that is plausible ;)

I'll throw in a vote for "peace", it could be that the spellings are interchangeable but (subconsciously) I always assumed the same definition as Yoohoo

... ah, back to Cinematic Titanic anyone wanna speculate how many of these things they'll do a year? I'm guessing about 8, no reason for that number, just seems like it would be difficult to get everybody together unless they share riffer duties on each... umm  'mp3?'

Well, irregardless, for all intensive purposes we know what he/she/it/phe means.  Isn't that the ultimate point of language:  to communicate.

I'm so kicking your ass.  IT'S ON BITC. . . err, bettertomorrowamy.

I was mostly just being snarky and trying to get the thread of topic by correcting the grammar.   ;D

Joel has updated the Cinematic Titanic website. He drops another hint about the first victim. I'm starting to think more and more it's the Star Wars Holiday special.  :highfive:

The new MST3K cartoon and Cinematic Titanic are like perfect mirror images so far.  Every hope I have for the bots cartoon keeps spiraling further and further down, while my hopes for CT keep going up.  I hope I'm not disappointed, but I am completely psyched.

AmandaGal is correct.  It's "piece" not "peace".

Piece of mind = an opinion (a figurative "piece" of one's mind... i.e. saying one's "piece")

Peace of mind = absence of mental stress

Saying one's "peace" may be common these days, but it's still incorrect.
