Even if you hated 300, please admit that it doesn't deserve this.

I started that one, actually. My rage manifest itself in my head as a long, drawn out roar.

Chaos

I agree with Junkyard on this one. A real parody requires subtlety, intelligence, and finesse. Lacking that, it's just boring stupidity - like (I assume, since I've never been foolish enough to watch them) Epic Movie and Date Movie... and now this piece of feces.

For a run down of a movie scene that is almost to painful to READ, check out what he says near the bottom of this link, near the Narnia rip off. It talks about something that could have been parody if anyone who made Epic Movie actually cared.

I know you started it.   Just thought it would be helpful to center your frustrations.  Maybe if you saw something that made you madder then it would help calm you down. LOL

That reminds me, I have to add something to the RRRRRAAAARRRRGGGHHHH thread. Excuse me.

If I'm going to be honest, this picture doesn't make me worry about the possible future of parody being synonymous with "cheaply cashing in on the success of other movies," as much as it makes me just want to rub aloe all over poor Leonidas.  Poor bastard looks like he spent all day under rigorous Spartan training in the unforgiving heat of the sun, without his SPF 40 sunblock.

I do worry about parody becoming synonymous with "cheaply cashing in on the success of other movies," though, don't get me wrong.  I love a good parody, myself, but the key term in there is "good."  Meet the Spartans, Epic Movie... this sort of thing just makes me ashamed to enjoy parody.

I hated 300, but this isn't parodying 300, its cashing in on its success.

AH, that reminds me: None of these movies featuring Carmel E or the Wayans are parodies. Airplane was a parody. Young Frankenstein was a parody.
These movies are crap. A parody is where you put a subtle twist on something that came before. These are just a collection of dick jokes.

Ah yes.  Airplane!  It's hard to get much more subtle than that...

I'll agree with intelligence, but I could hardly call Airplane! a subtle twist.  Or Young Frankenstein for that matter.  There's nothing subtle about singing "I aint got not body"

I'm an American born in 1984. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue" IS a subtle twist on "Looks like i chose the wrong week to quit smoking" by my standards.

And subtlety doesn't need to mean quiet nuance. It just means... well, to illustrate it, try to imagine Young Frankenstein's "blind man in the cabin" scene as done by the makers of Epic Movie. You'll get it.

Then, once all the stabbing is done, we head over to the snack bar to buy all their watermelon Jolly Ranchers!

You had me with the Jolly Ranchers.  I'll admit I was a bit skeptical of your plan at first, but now that Jolly Ranchers are involved, there's no way I'm backin' down.

(grabs knife & car keys)

Now, which way to the theater?

...Oh.  The movie doesn't come out for a few months yet.  Oh, well.  I can still have my Jolly Ranchers.

Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

Hell it's almost halloween, the day after we can go to the stores and stock up on the clearance candy, there's sure to be Jolly Ranchers in there.

Anyone see the 300 parody they did on Robot Chicken this week? I thought it was their best sketch on the episode by a long way.  It was a movie trailer for 1776, about the war of independence, just done in the 300 style.  Funny stuff.

Chaos

Sadly we don't get new episodes of Robot Chicken here. We've just BARELY started to get a couple of season 2 episodes trickling in on Teletoon as the network sluggishly buys them up.

Any chance the skit you're talking about is on YouTube?

Heh.  I did look for it on Youtube while I was posting, but the video had been yanked.  Nice to see it back up though.
