Isn't EVERY movie a bit of stretch?  it's maybe 4 movies based on rides?

He's the kid from Bay's Transformers, and is Indiana Jones' son.

Pak-Man

The only reason the titles of the original Indiana Jones movies don't sound just as cheesy is because we grew up with them. "The Temple of Doom." Do you think that would be recieved as well today? :^)

Sounds better than "Attack of the Clones".

And lest we forget.....the man who came up with that is involved in this movie as well.

That man who thinks six equals nine....or that he can say he never said something because there were no recording devices back in the 1970's and '80's.

(I could come up with more things but I'd be here all day)

Ugh.  I know we need a "young" pull for the audience, but the whole thing smacks of the adding-a-new-kid-to-the-family syndrome of aging sitcoms (Diff'rent Strokes, Growing Pains, etc.).

Please oh please let his name be Oliver.

I thought PotC worked because of the wicked badass skeletal fight at the end, which was partially inspired by the skeletons from the ride? For me, anyway...

Oh, and Tripe, I think if bettertomorrowamy is going to keep calling you Your Grace, I'm going to have to start calling you Sir Samuel. ;)

City of the Gods sounded better, but either way, I'm not sure an alien story really fits the Indy mythos for me.  The crystal skulls are an interesting phenomenon, but I have my doubts about this.

Pak-Man

They could go a different way with Area 51. It could turn out that the clue to the relic Indy's looking for is being hidden in a secret base and everyone just thinks it's aliens. :^)

Hebs

I'm excited for this even though I have some reservations about his son being an icky greaser kid, but I think Shia TheBeef is a good actor - he's not going to make the movie go south, I don't think.

My aunt keeps sending me all these crappy newspaper clippings about Spielburg and Ford and everyone staying in New Haven to shoot for the month of June.  Andy and I spent a lot of time in New Haven so she thinks I'd get all excited about the possibility of ordering the SAME sandwhich from the SAME diner as Ford probably did MONTHs ago.  Ahh - I don't care!  Stop sending me these things!  (/end rant)

It is kind of a long title.  Too long perhaps?

By the way, off topic for just a moment-
Why did the Dragon Wars thread get closed?

Chaos

Possibly pyro closed it himself. Thead creators have the ability to lock the thread.

BathTub

yeah, I didn't lock it and I doubt torgos or Conor would have without saying anything.

I guess it's possible, but everything I've heard about the real life crystal skulls, if it didn't involve alien origins, was about new age/psychic energy kinds of things.  Neither really fits Indiana Jones IMO.  I guess they might be taking the idea of the skulls in a completely different direction.  I hope that's what they're doing.

Well, you don't have to be an expert in Hindu mythology or Indian history to know how historically accurate Temple of Doom is.  It's just supposed to be a stupid adventure serial movie.  I mean, if Spielberg, Lucas, and Harrison Ford hadn't been notable before Raiders of the Lost Ark, would people have attached such a mythos to it?  Possibly.  But the point is, all of the Indiana Jones movies are nothing more than well-executed, highly polished action adventure serial.  Sure, they're three of my favorite movies of all time, but they're not trying to be the greatest movies ever.  They're just a love letter from Spielberg and Lucas to the movies they grew up with.
