are you kidding, the Christmas Island airport is the size of a match box and the only thing that flies from there are carrier pidgeons, since we have no form of telephone communications or this new fangled interweb thing the kids are talking about..  And what in tarnashion is one of them automocar things that look like horseless carriges?

Just a quick update.

The Comic-Con has posted when it will take place next year.  So, the meet-up in San Diego will happen the weekend of July 26th.  I'm thinking that Sunday, July 27th would probably be the best day for the meet-up because usually the Con doesn't have great programming that day. 

I was also wondering what some of you might prefer for a meet-up location.  Would you prefer we rent out a building and have the meet-up there?  A park?  Elsewhere?  Let me know what you think.

Since Grillslinger has mentioned he's interested in cooking up some vittles, I suspect we'll need an outdoor location.  I'm thinking Crown Point, or somewhere else around the periphery of Mission Bay.

I was thinking about this and even though Grillslinger is for it, I'm not sure I'm comforable with him slaving over a grill while the rest of us sit around chatting and enjoying his food.  It'd be nice if all of us could kick back and enjoy the meet-up.  I think it might be better if we just order out for pizzas.  That way, no one is stuck at a hot grill all day.  Just a thought.

Based on his posts here, I don't think he'd see it that way.  Grilling things is his passion, and I suspect he'd enjoy sharing that passion as much if not more than sitting around chatting.  But I'll let him speak for himself next time he's in the area of this thread.

What if we pay him?    

Seriously, though, unless San Diego is horrendously unpleasant at that time of year weather-wise, I think an outdoor setting (regardless of food) is the most ideal. Mainly because using a park would pretty much be free. Renting an indoor space would require $ and I've seen many a meet-up derailed because of insufficient funds or only one person taking a huge hit in the pocket for everyone else who wouldn't donate.
