You guys know me... i'm for meeting at any bar that serves up a cold beer.

-Rude

I'm still not sure if I'll be able to make it out there or not, but if the meeting place does end up in a bar, I wouldn't even think to risk it on the grounds that I will be under 21 and don't know of the policy pertaining to minors in the bars.

If an outdoors-y, park-ish place is seriously under consideration, is there any way to obtain an alcohol permit for the event?  (Feeble attempt at compromise... GO!)

... Oh, and PSL... (insert schoolgirl giggle here)

So San Diegoans, what's the weather like in late July? Will we run the risk of heatstroke if we do this outside? Because if Sunny D is anything like New York this time of year, I vote for indoors. Remember, some of us pasty Northeastern and Midwesterners are deathly allergic to sunlight...

I'm up for anything

*realizes he probably should not have phrased it that way*

Protect you anus whenever Steve-O goes by - you know how he gets.

If an outdoors-y, park-ish place is used, an alcohol permit is usually unnecessary.  Mission Bay Park, which would be my recommendation, permits booze from noon until 8 PM.

The first annual How Drunk Can You Get In 8 Hours? competition, July 27, 2008. Be there or be sober.

Mid- to high-70s.  Think you can handle that, Chilly Willy?

Damn right.  There's nobody more committed to anal safety than I.  I will not rest until every anus is adequately protected.  Even you anus.

According to the webpage, they don't allow glass containers in Mission Bay Park. Do you know if that's enforced, Steve-O?

That sounds quite lovely. Much better than the mid- to high-90 millions up here.

Tyrant

With all this talk of drinking, I'm starting to wonder of those of us who either don't drink or drink very moderately will have any fun at all outside of laughing at and filming everyone who is drunk.

Isn't that fun enough? Sober people can bring the videocameras, and we drunks can provide the entertainment. The entertainment most likely being drunken frisbee and/or drunken Nerf football.

It is.  It's a beach park, so they don't want the sand to get all littered with severed toes.  You can always pour your drink into a plastic cup in the comfort of your rental vehicle.  Don't forget to dispose of the empties before you drive away, though (open container laws.)

Kegs, by the way, are perfectly acceptable.

Hmm... I hadn't considered the mighty keg. If only there was a top-notch brewery in the San Diego area...

Mission Bay Park sounds just about perfect.  If no one's against it I think we'll have the meet-up there.

EDIT:  It says that large meeting of over 75 people will require a permit.  While I seriously doubt we'll have nearly that many people at the meet-up, please let me know if you're going to come or not.  Not only will this help me figure out if we'll need a permit or not but it'll also let me know how much food we need.
Imrahil: Don't care about Riding with Death.

Bob: Turkey.

Action Batch:  Woah, let's all mellow out and rap about this.

75 people. Can you imagine? Steve-O and I would have to defend our precious keg wielding 2x4s with nails in them.

How will we know each other? Just by making lots of introductions?  What if I don't want to meet Steve-O? ;)
